There is no Congress anymore. RIP
I can’t overstate how entirely untethered to the constitution and past practice this unilateral move to repurpose funds to pay for military pay is. The commander-in-chief clause has precisely 0 bearing on the ability to expend funds. Here’s a list of authorities that do:

What happened to #SCOTUS?

They have to know what they’re doing. I think they want us to become an autocracy. What’s the alternative rationale?
Six Justices shockingly conclude that it's likely the Impoundment Control precludes an otherwise valid APA claim to require expenditure of obligated funds. This argument, which turns the ICA on its head, is so absurd that the Trump DOJ itself wisely disclaimed it a month ago. Utterly lawless.

We did another extrajudicial killing. So that’s cool.

Kleptocracy.

Charitable interpretation: I think Trump thinks that the USG is its best when it acts like the mob. And that he’s doing great things for America.

Just so I'm clear:

TV host says we should kill every homeless person? No big deal

TV host says the right must "go to war" with the left? Pfft.

TV host says the government is cracking down on critics? Well, the government cracks down on him for the criticism.

Free speech, everyone.

There was a bit in this episode about who is adopting AI, and who is resisting.

Personally, there's been so much smoke and mirrors from tech the last decade we've got a name for it -- the grift shift.

Many of these tech are intrinsically interesting, but way over hyped.

New pod: Something very strange is happening to the labor market for college graduates. Their unemployment is rising much faster than the overall economy—in a way that's unprecedented in the last 40 yrs.

Why?

Dems are the party of "we know better than you", "it's not your turn", and "rules for thee not for me"

Voters arent buying Dem policies b/c they dont have any

The closest they've come is "abundance" from EK/DT; or "fight the olig" from AOC and BS.

How do we fix this? cc: @benwikler.bsky.social
Feel bad for Rep Connolly and his family, but I think this take holds up well.

Would be really cool to see a series on supply chain focused on small business stories. @kairyssdal.bsky.social @marketplace.org
I was thinking about this Joe and Tracy anecdote from the supply chain crisis on gummy bears. Things are probably going to get really weird in a few weeks in unexpected ways:

How does one have time to run five companies, vandalize the government, purchase domestic elections, promote the Eur far right, sh*tpost on xitter, and still has time to... livestream... A video game?

One way of looking at yesterday is that Trump forgot the lesson of the law firms and universities. Go after one country at a time and that country is in a jam. Go after literally every country in the world at once, including the penguin countries, and you’re in the jam.

I, for one, welcome the “abundance” fight. It shows the left can fight Trumpism while wrestling with how we can be better than we’ve been.

I have no interest in “actually the government has been doing great” liberalism.

Or, I don't know... Address the root cause(s) instead of doubling down on the grift.

The opposition party should champion a new worker-friendly kind of governance.

You don't have to adopt grim-realism as the status quo. Provide [young men] an actual ticket out. Memes and grifts aren't it.
For someone who works a low paid job but has amassed $5000 in crypto, it’s not just an investment. It’s their ticket out. You do NOT want to threaten that if you want them to vote for you.

Today, I am calling on Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and other top officials in the Trump administration to resign immediately due to their reckless and unlawful disclosure of national security secrets. Their actions have put our country at risk, and immediate accountability is necessary
