Devastated to hear about the end of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Growing up in rural PA, without the CPB I would have had NO access to educational media. The CPB had a huge impact on who I am today.

This will utterly destroy the potential for critical thinking in the rural USA.

I have no art to share, but I signed. Please do too if you are eligible!
EU citizens, we have 2 more days to get to 1m signatures on this initiative to ban so-called conversion "therapies" targeting queer people, and it's still doable!! Please share this link widely!

Mostly agree but disappointed the Church didn't go with a super drawn-out process. I could use a little international drama I don't GAF about.
I really appreciate Trump and Vance swinging elections our way in Canada, Australia, and now the global Catholic Church. MVPs, honestly.

GodDAMN this ruling against Apple in the Epic lawsuit is brutal. This is a judge who is outright furious at a company and it is not going well for them.

Here we go. A major conference on antimicrobial resistance (GAMRIC) scheduled for later this year has been moved from Washington DC to London. Email from the organizers: "In order to maximise global participation..."

(NB that they say nothing about moving *from* DC. But it WAS in DC.)

The Japanese artist Masayo Fukuda hand-cut this incredible life-sized octopus from one sheet of paper. Known as Kirie in Japanese (translated as “cut picture”), the traditional art form involves cutting intricate forms from a single sheet of white paper and contrasting it against a dark background.

An FT analysis of more than 350,000 posts on X related to the Canadian election revealed a network of co-ordinated accounts pushing content to boost Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, who has been endorsed by Elon Musk, and to tarnish his Liberal counterpart Mark Carney.

Yeah but Macron thinks felon Sarko is "honorable" and sexual predator Depardieu "a credit to France."
Stop looking for moral authority in the same old tired places. It'll yield the same old tired results.
Macron shook one hand.

Please please PLEASE do this in France too!
1. Crackdown on mass scam texts

Labour is banning SIM farms, the devices criminals use to send scam texts to thousands of people at once.

The UK will be the first country in Europe to do this.

To put this in perspective, this is mathematically the same as if you went to court to try to get the law changed because you make $70k/yr and were upset someone wanted you to pay $18.72 to legally buy something instead of stealing it.
"That could change if the law is reversed, he said. Paying publishers would most likely cost Meta, which generated $164.5 billion in revenue last year, 62 million Canadian dollars a year, or about $44 million." -- www.nytimes.com/2025/04/21/t...
