I ordered 60 because we are almost at our goal of buying her out and I didn’t want to miss out. Please come to Nighthawk tomorrow and pick up some chuchitos!
A group I volunteer with is trying to buy out a neighbor selling chicken chuchitos (a Guatemalan tamale with red sauce) tomorrow. I’m thinking of placing a big order to take to Nighthawk for the whistle event. Would anyone want to chip in? You can pick them up at Nighthawk or enjoy them there.

Whoops, thats me
This week I wrote about the rise of the e-bike dad - this piece was originally going to run alongside the story I did in September about the bike boom in general, and we didn't have space in print, but here it is:

The current political climate and ICE enforcement threats have heavily impacted street vendors, keeping many from working and leaving families without income. A single day without sales means no money for rent, food, medicine, or childcare. (1/3)

I started messing around with computers when I was 13 — the biggest flash drive commercially available was like 1 GB and it cost over $100 lol

The artist Anish Kapoor is considering taking legal action after border patrol agents posed for a photo in front of his Cloud Gate sculpture in Chicago, saying the scene represented “fascist America”. Too true! US has gone full fascist.

So is the Bean not on city property? What's the deal? Seems like there should be a full investigation. Looking forward to action on this.

This could tear bluesky apart
One thing the NYC mayoral race underscored for me is how easily the phrase "I don't feel safe" can be weaponized. It's an argument I would hesitate ever to use again, even for a good cause. I hope we can all agree that we have the right to BE safe. Maybe we should leave it at that.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.
