Our collective task is not to save tech but to save us, our world.

The resonant computing manifesto is too focused on means and not on ends. And that's basically the core issue. The belief in technological determinism.

Not just the constitution but the codification of it by congress.
A neat thing about birthright citizenship is how it tests whether a person cares at all about the Constitution. There's no argument against it, birthright citizenship is the unambitious text, the obvious intent of the drafters, and the undisputed way it was followed for the past 150+ years.
I continue to think that Matty coming out against birthright citizenship a few months ago should have been taken as a major warning sign that the group chats have already decided to surrender on this.

What gets me is that fanfic/fanart creators have been talking about the subject of getting dogpiled, harassed, and pressured *for so many years now* about making dark/unsettling content, and let nobody listened to the canary in the coal mine because “stupid fandom drama”
alternatively we as a society could realize that fiction is about playing with dolls and that horrible things happening to them doesn't matter because it's all toys.

but that seems more complicated than just bringing back big box PC games and publishing books alongside them

This article asks, "whether this is open to abuse", but imo, the very existence and implementation of this tech *IS* abuse.

No matter how "restricted" it is. No matter how little an employer uses it.

This is a level of surveillance that is inherently abusive.
microsoft promised to "empower every user" and google to "revolutionise knowledge and technological innovation" but in reality what they have given us is an invasive surveillance dystopian nightmare hard to escape

Despite the fact that the academic council recommended against it, despite the fact that the program brought in more tuition than it cost, and despite the fact that Nebraskans need & deserve this expertise, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences will be cut.

Love or hate the actual games, no one should be happy that we went from a world where Senran Kagura could release like five games in a couple of years to having content so now unacceptable that the IP is doomed to being gacha while the super passionate guy behind them got so fed up he quit.
This is a fair question to ask, but so is the opposite: do all the people complaining about the censorship of Horses also complain about the censorship of anime titty games and the like? Because you can only truly be against censorship by opposing it with both of these, not just one or the other.

Like quite literally, the whole "exploitation of children" nonsense that got Horses banned from Steam started with Valve being insane about Japanese games. These two things are as directly connected as it gets!

I wrote a thing about how frustrating this line of thought is, cuz it gets trotted out every few years, and a whole bunch of interesting people disagree thoughtfully and articulately, and none of those disagreements are acknowledged when it's trotted out again

This game is basically like Into the Breach, Disgaea, and Persona got put in a blender, and all probably not in the way you're expecting. If that sounds rad, maybe take a look.
Just FYI: While the launch discount is over, you can still get Demonschool for a discount if you already own Into the Breach, Look Outside, Birdcage, Kingdoms of the Dump, VA-11 Hall-A, or World of Horror, from our bundles page. store.steampowered.com/bundlelist/1...
