If you, as a white person, go "Here is a brown mouthpiece for my views on this subject!", that isn't any less dehumanizing.

You might get shit wrong. You might get called out or even called racist.

But if you care about racialized people, you have to speak *with* us, not over us or *through* us.
No matter what you do as a white person, you have to be willing to speak about race with your own white mouth and your own white brain. You cannot simply outsource responsibility for thinking about race to the third world. You have to do that bit yourself.
Ultimately, if you are a white, Western person who wants to do right by racialized people, you are correct to cede them epistemic authority.

However, if you do so uncritically, if you simply choose to believe everything you're told without question, you end up in the same place.

With wrong ideas.

Okay, so this is going to sound inflammatory, but I promise it isn't.

One of the reasons I appreciate Beth's review of this book is because she talks about race and the Third World unflinchingly.

Which you'd think I, as a brown tranny who harps on epistemic authority constantly, wouldn't endorse.
Introducing Transwrecks, a review series for books that suck enough to merit their own category.

I loathed this book, but its overall warm reception by the community up to this point seems to strike at a deeper issue about anti-intellectualism and the role of truth in feminist critique ⬇️🫤

Every recent man-made horror occuring right now can be traced to someone being:

1) Anti-Black
2) Anti-Palestinian
3) Transphobic

We are here due to someone--many someones--voting for one of the three. And now the world must figure out how to breathe without the nose it discarded to spite its face.

i feel like, with transfem characters, people are really terrified to draw them not conventionally attractive cis passing. i get being worried about being offensive but, the beauty standards in the queer community, esp when your fat and not "conventionally attractive" is brutal.

idk.

honestly wish more people drew fat women but not with huge boobs and hips with slight tummy with pencil thin limbs.

but women with most of their fat going to their tummy, arms, and neck, narrow hips. i think that body type is cute and hot

Reply with your links to it if you are either one of these of these groups and everyone else can and should donate and/or share for exposure

A reminder for #TDOV that we wouldn’t be here without all of the Black Trans advocates, sex workers, and community members that fought for our rights, supported those around them, and gave everything they could.

Black Trans people continue to be the most at risk, and are severely under appreciated.
