They would not proclaim such executive powers for "the president" if they believed President AOC could, in 2029, decide to unilaterally cut the defense budget by hundreds of billions. They are working to neuter free and fair elections. You can bet on it.
The only way I can interpret the GOP's actions is that they are 100% certain they will never face another democratic election again.

They hit the shore and burned their ships.

I messed up. At the CFPB rally, I said we had ~300 events at Senate offices across every state but Mississippi. That was wrong.

Shout out to the 45 members of Indivisible Northeast Mississippi who showed up at Senator Wicker's offices in Tupelo! Thank you for the correction!

That's 50 states + DC.

What a remarkable self-own. It’s like watching a bunch of firefighters stand around looking at a burning house, annoyed because people keep calling them about it. “What do you want us to do? We didn’t set the fire! Call the arsonist.”

NIH Funding Cuts Appear to Draw on Heritage Foundation Report That Blasts ‘DEI Staff’
In its notice outlining the large cut in university funding, the US National Institutes of Health seems to draw on a report from a conservative think tank that denounces the “political left.”

The ‘American First’ crowd is awfully quiet about Trump’s pledge to build free housing for 2 million Palestinians in some random country they don’t want to go to that also doesn’t want them. I’m sure this will all work out fine and that’s what people thought they were voting for.

This is becoming a Clarence Thomas trademark in criminal cases where he doesn't get his way: opinions with lurid, cinematic descriptions of the underlying crime, because in his mind, if a crime is Bad Enough, the person who (he thinks) did it shouldn't get constitutional rights at all
Nothing Enrages Clarence Thomas Like Criminal Defendants Having Constitutional Rights

Great point. Democrats are not shutting down the government. That’s the Republicans. They have the majority. If they want to do the right thing and stop the Trump crime spree then I’m sure Democrats will help them. Otherwise they can work it out amongst themselves.
