'I'll play you Donald Trump lying, and the Met Commissioner doing what every patriotic Brit should be doing...'

@mrjamesob.bsky.social cautions against 'treachery', as Sir Mark Rowley rubbishes Trump's claims about safety under Sadiq Khan last month.

BBC staff have now been banned from repeating the description of Donald Trump excised from Rutger’s Reith lecture. Makes his warning here all the more chilling.

Two stories you may not have seen this week that would be a big deal in a normal country:

1) The ‘dossier’ detailing the BBC’s editing of the Trump speech literally edited Trump’s speech.

2) The NBER calculated that Brexit’s longer term damage to GDP was greater than originally forecast.

"These estimates suggest that by 2025 Brexit had reduced UK GDP by 6% to 8%, with the impact accumulating gradually over time."

New NBER report is quietly devastating about the impact of Brexit on the UK economy.

We need to cut away the drag anchor of Brexit.

We need to rejoin the EU!

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

’This has been turned into something much bigger, very deliberately.’

After dissecting Trump’s original 2021 speech, @mrjamesob.bsky.social and caller Al conclude that the BBC’s edit is not the 'heinous misrepresentation’ it’s made out to be.

Has Albert Speer Jr here actually seen Trump tower?
Stephen Miller: "The scandal is how Democrats & the left scarred the landscape of our country w/grotesque so-called modern art that celebrates ugliness ... very importantly, President Trump is making sure it's in the neo-classical design around which our nation's architecture has long been directed"

During WW1 there was a rumour that aspirin caused the Spanish Flu. As I was writing about that last year I often shook my head in disbelief at the stupidity of our near ancestors. Seems a lot of people are still dumb enough to believe nonsense.

The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion.

The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion.

Our problem isn't a lack of resources.

Our problem is ever-expanding inequality.

Fascists hate comedians. The Nazis victimised them too for telling the 'wrong' kinds of jokes. First they suffered censorship. Then far worse. Just like the great comedian and actor Paul Morgan. He was forced to flee to Austria before being arrested. He died in Buchenwald concentration camp in 1938.

I prosecute and defend the most serious sexual offences in our courts.

The overwhelming majority of offenders are British-born. Overwhelmingly the victim is someone known to them, either a partner or relative.
