Alternative headline: 61% of fraud committed by men; why are men such lying, deceitful, arsrholes?
Because 39% of fraud convictions were crimes perpetrated by women, women must be inherently deceitful.

Can anyone make this make sense?

Bluesky is dying
Bluesky was invented to create a nicer space than Twitter. The problem is that too few people have joined and most are smug and boring.

I want international updates but given how much is happening at home, would love to see domestic coverage

So what do you think is wrong with Morning Report?

For me it's the lack of hard interview that was there in 2020 and before. Guyon Espiner, Susie Ferguson and Kim Hill could be relied upon to press the interviewee and forced a lot of gaffs from Luxon for instance. Where is that now? #NZPol

A ministry document showed Stanford made the decision in October"

Looks like her de-Maorification program with Elizabeth Rata is on track then!

David Seymour said this actual sentence about our Covid response:

"Sure we saved thousands of lives, but at what cost?"

So just remember that when you see David Seymour and his party changing health & safety, their lack of regard for lives compared to business is appalling

#NZPol
There was already a Covid inquiry that said we did most things well but some could have been done better. This govt set up a new one on spurious grounds in an effort to make it look like we should have done a Sweden, it’s all bollocks #NZPol
Can understand Hipkins & Ardern choosing not to appear at covid inquiry. Van Weldon's 'Lockdown Overlords' comment just confirm they made the right decision. #nzpol

They forgot to put Jacinda & Chippy’s heads in the public square noose, a campaigning faux pas for the cookers apparently, so now they MUST whip up a conspiratorial frenzy to appease their perpetually angry professional victim voter base, while conveniently rewriting history. I guess. 🤷‍♀️🙄 #nzpol
So Hipkins did front the inquiry & they let him go an hour early b/c they ran out of questions. Also Winston was part of the leadership team & urged vacs, ACT were offering $ for vax and National were begging for Labour to borrow more.

Such dirty politics & 1News analysis tonight wasn't great

The Covid enquiry stuff is stomach churning. The coalition of clowns wanted a public circus to distract from their actual clown show of a government. The prior ministers are completely correct about refusing.

And the media faithfully churn out this derisive stuff with glee. 🤮

If children are being hurt by adults on social media, why are we punishing the children, instead of the adults?

Why aren’t the social media sites being compelled to manage safe, responsible businesses?

Children are people and citizens.

Let’s call it what it is. Scrapping pay equity claims for women, then saying limiting human rights is “justified” to protect employers, isn’t neutral. It’s misogyny baked into lawmaking. #nzpol

New documents show how ministers pushed through controversial pay equity changes
Officials looked at proposals such as phasing in settlements over three years instead of paying the full amount upfront, and removing backpay.

Personally I love it when the government works very hard to keep massive law changes a secret and then retrospectively releases all the information about it at 8.34pm on a Thursday www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

Can the media provide some balance to any bank’s skewed reckons on the economy. They’re in it for their profits and aren’t neutral. We’re all part of the economy. Let’s hear from the NZCTU, Bernard Hickey and/or Auckland City Mission for some much needed balance on who exactly is feeling confident.

Our Government does not have a debt or interest cost problem. Yet that belief and repeated statement of 'fact' is the driving force behind all the Government's actions. It is the Coalition's North Star. And it doesn't exist.
If you squint a bit you will spot Central Govt net interest payments dipping back under $1bn per year. Incredible how much attention the Govt interest bill gets when the bigger story is so bloody obvious. Now how do businesses cover those billions of extra debt-servicing costs? 🤔
