The DOJ has issues a order that all orders are legal & the personnel are immune from prosecution. Right there is the red flag, the prosecution immunity.

At the core of the social contract is the state’s monopoly on the use of force. It only enjoys that monopoly for only as long as the people agree to the arrangement. Once broken, it rarely ends well for those who abused it. One in millions may rise to warlord status. The rest usually die.
at one point, i watched a cook county sheriff’s officer (who appears to be in charge) point out a priest in the crowd.

he and a couple officers then went into the crowd , dragged him into the street, and arrested him.

situation is still tense as crowd jostles with police to get into the street.

Again, Dick Cheney birthed this with his fake case to go to war and the AG that authored the torture memo.
Awful: Trump's boat bombings are now being justified by a new legal memo that relies on WH's own determinations as evidence. Memo also says people can't be prosecuted for the killings. But that reveals WH knows there's legal vulnerability here, Ds tell me.

😡 @ashtonpittman.bsky.social just shared one of the worst uses of the passive voice I’ve ever seen with me.

Make no mistake: Too many in journalism use passive voice on purpose to give passes and to soften certain news about power.

Why I basically outlaw it in our shop. (It also ruins writing.)

Every single one of these particular and nuanced policies that made people's lives just a tiny bit more manageable were the result of sometimes decades of advocacy from every day people. Hours of testimonies, calls, pleas. And all are being wiped away en masse because the cruelty is the point.

Men like Bovino never stop to think that rarely are the people who jump in at the start of a civil war around at the end of one.
Bovino: "Whether they were criminals or individuals that were taking jobs from Americans -- you name it, that's what they were doing. And I'll tell you what's gonna happen. We're gonna go even harder on the streets. If he releases those 650, we're gonna apprehend 1,650 on the streets of Chicago."

One thing that has changed as I've gotten older is the community's tolerance for incompetence in leadership. So many people have rolled their eyes at "red tape," rules, and procedure for so long that people forget there were legit reasons many procedures were put in place. It ought to be a ...
