For the record, Nigeria is amazing.

Nigerian scams are only a thing because they speak English, have broad access to the internet, and Americans are stupid.

Their legitimate internet businesses are wonderful and have better worker protections than India and Republican states.

The taxi dropped me at Mile 2, terminus of the Lagos Metro Blue Line. The line currently only runs every 23 minutes but by the time I'd bought and loaded a Cowry Card (engraved with my name as "元LEX元NDER") it wasn't too much more waiting.

The ride itself was delightful; the train was uncrowded (at least in the off-peak direction) with good aircon and great views of Lagos and its harbor.

At the end of the ride at Marina Station I was greeted by a Krispy Kreme (which unfortunately wasn't as good as at US/EU locations but definitely not bad).

The use of high-speed intercity rolling stock on the low-speed short distance Lagos Red Line (commuter rail with 5 daily trains each way) is so bizarre.

When I was a kid I heard vaguely about the famine in Biafra, a place I knew was vaguely in Africa. I had no idea that it was engineered by Nigeria in league with the UK.

The parallels with Gaza are striking.
