A new element in this anecdote. You don’t ‘banter’ with a 9 year old at 17. This is racism + cowardly bullying.

Yet again ridiculously evident that former Oxford University Conservative Association chair Nick Robinson absolutely hates taxation, his voice dripping in contempt with one loaded question after another. Really poor attempt at neutrality on a flagship BBC programme.

The great thing about delaying hard decisions is that you never have to make them and it all turns out fine in the end (Ed - pls check).

NEW: Rachel Reeves signals she intends to remove the two-child cap *in full*

"I don't think a child should be penalised because they're in a bigger family through no fault of their own," she tells BBC.

Just thinking about Celebrity Traitors last night and the fact that if they’d been on that train just 10 seconds longer the scenes would have been horrific. Massive relief all round I imagine, it would have put a serious crimp on what has otherwise been a very successful series.

@zackpolanski.bsky.social quoted on BBC radio news responding to Rachel Reeves budget hints and NOT quoting Nigel Farage????

Is that the sound of the Overton window shifting?

Oh and now they're doing a long voice clip from Yaxley-Lennon.
Steps forward, step backwards...

Asylum seekers, housed in hotels in Manchester, are reaching out in their own words to address the concerns of the local community.

Please take a minute to read their letter, & share it with the people in your life who need to hear the truth about the people they are protesting.

More good news for the Chancellor ahead of the budget next month!

Here we have an actual and workable wealth tax...which is raising more tax than expected.
Well would you look at that

I know statistics are poorly understood and are misused. But facts matter

Between the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them

Politics is not like selling biscuits, where the task is to find out what people like & flog it to them.

It's a moral activity. It's about arguing for the things you believe in. It's about *shaping* the "median voter".

Farage has moved the centre-ground of politics. His opponents can move it back.

I was at this school. A former teacher told me he didn’t like this story, because none of us should be judged on what we did at 17. I agree. People should be judged on the distance we’ve put between our adult selves and what we did at 17 – especially if what they did was sing Hitler Youth songs
“Another colleague described his publicly professed racist and neo-fascist views. Yet another colleague described how, at a Cadet Force camp organised by the college, Farage and others marched through a quiet Sussex village late at night shouting Hitler-youth songs.”

Keir Starmer's aides are reportedly telling him not to go to the COP30 climate conference, because Reform would attack him for it.
Yes, they might.
And he should wear it as a badge of honour.
Standing up for humanity, for science and a habitable planet.
Where's the hazard in that?
