Steam intentionally killing an old, respected, and beloved decade old indie game studio through bullshit policy is fucking wild
Our upcoming game HORSES was preemptively banned from Steam, with no path to appeal. The game will still launch next week on December 2nd and will be available on EGS, GOG, Humble, and Itch for $4.99. Here is a detailed FAQ covering what happened: horses.wtf/BannedFromSt...

The damned in hell are not more powerful for the fact that the fires do not consume them; it is part and parcel of their torment.

My big project: The Death Generator.
It's a tool for making fake video game screenshots, just fill in new text and it'll give you a (generally) pixel-accurate image back, the correct fonts and everything.

Reminder that if you have a PS3, PS4 or PS5, you can get the original, unfiltered, non-"remastered" version of Grandia via PSN's PS1 classics lineup.
Just captured some Grandia 1, here it is compared to the remaster

I offered my 2 year old a banana and he went "Wait! Have to put book away!" and then put his book away in the right place before stumbling over mumbling banana over and over. This kids a genius I'm so cooked he'll usurp me in weeks at this point. I don't even always put my stuff away right.

There are a variety of videos on YouTube going over the idea that “they don’t make em like they used to” and the reality is that they often do, but you’re going to pay an inflation adjusted price for it. $20 in 1975 is $120 today.

We’ve become accustomed to incredibly cheap goods.
This two-parter below is exactly why it's hard to make clothes in the United States.

Let's look at how much it costs to produce a button-up shirt in the US. 🧵

The fact we only have the Sonic OVA soundtrack because some guy thought "maybe I can look through the credits & just ask each person who worked on it politely" is really funny to me.

In Final Fantasy Tactics if a unit gains too much faith they leave your party to go find God. Have you ever wondered what would happen if you had Beast Tongue and got a monster unit to maximum faith? Of course you haven't. No one has.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Fire Emblem archetypes have always been a widely accepted and universally beloved concept. There's Ests, Jagens, Gotohs, and Malleduses, the latter of which literally just means "character who is a tactician", apparently. Amongst these archetypes, none are nearly as beloved as the Frey archetype.

The majority of gamers believe that by virtue of buying a game you are owed a credits roll, and hold the right to tinker hysterically with the game to that, or any other ends.

nobody wants to admit it but this isn't art for a lot of you. It's a toy, a dopamine dispenser.
"are games art?" asinine question
"are games treated as art culturally?" not even a little bit, not even by the vast majority of people who care about proving that games are art

for games to become art culturally what is needed is an understanding of their musicality, which is to say you don't need a deep thesis from some evil ass jazz to understand that it's art, It's all feeling. But currently a lot of the possible feelings from 'play' are just considered bad design
