More important to me than my identity, I am also the Vice President of the NewsGuild of New York, and targeting me with a blatantly retaliatory termination like this feels like an egregious shot against our union and against media workers as a whole.

update: court of administrative hearings determined shelley madore violated MN election law by falsely implying DFL endorsement in ads. state DFL told her it was fine, but inter party rules don't supersede law. plus info on her attorney jordan hagert's connections

Elizabeth Shaffer thinks her email audience doesn't know that the purpose of a PAC is that it accepts unlimited money independent of the candidate's campaign fundraising.

Legitimately mad about this. Lots of people in Ward 10 want to vote for the candidate who support alternative transportation. Lydia Millard should stop lying to voters about being a bike advocate. She has very explicitly campaigned against bike, pedestrian, and transit infrastructure.

People keep asking me what Elizabeth Shaffer's problem is and I tell them: SHE'S A SPACE ALIEN. Trying to mimic the characteristics of a Lowry Hill mansion dweller, but coming off like an unbelievable caricature.

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

Great Moments in Vetaw

Minneapolis Council Member LaTrisha Vetaw argues against ordinance targeting slumlords. Says hypothetical slumlord with high powered lobbyist could get city to look the other way, while lesser slumlords are held accountable.

It's "not fair" + "picking winners and losers"

The way Shaffer has governed on the park board: killing good, well-considered long range plans because her core constituency are the Stakeholders who live by the motto "we all do better when things stay the same for me."
LISTEN CLOSELY

Ward 7 council candidates asked about city's ambitious mode shift goals (60 percent trips not in a car).

Shaffer: I do support these goals. "At the same time, this is how I lead, we need to listen to all stakeholders" (in other words be very skeptical that she supports these goals)

When I was placed on the Professor Watchlist in 2021, people sent death threats about my children. I had security officers monitor my 8yo at school.

Where is all the outrage for those of us who have been targeted for years? Where is the outrage for our families?

My own colleagues are silent.

The free speech activist who built a list of professors he worked to get fired for their speech must be celebrated for his support of free speech, and anyone who quotes his speech accurately in context will be fired and/or face state punishment by the champions of free speech, do I have that right?
