On dark green leaves rests what appears to be a butterfly—actually a moth. Its wings are black and spangled with brilliant red and white dots. Iridescent blue lights its abdomen and central wing surfaces. Its head and thorax are black dotted by white. Its spectacular appearance signals that it’s toxic. As a caterpillar, it fed on Devil’s Potato. 💀

went to a bug show today and made some friends. the Giant Peaceful Ground Beetle (actual common name of the Teflus genus) was my favourite she was SO sweet
a large, dark stick insect with a prickly cuticle balancing on my hand and looking towards the camera a large black shiny ground beetle with many grooves along its abdomen, resting on my hand. she is so very cute and exudes a kind aura a long, skinny tan-coloured stick insect climbing up my forearm. a large green mantis resting on my knuckles and staring off into the distance.

A tarantula spiderling, very small and delicate, pauses in plain sight for a picture. Her cephalothorax is brown, her abdomen is gray, and her legs have subtle stripes between the two colors.
