Ada Louise Huxtable, Buffalo, and the Greatest Urban Vista

Buffalonians like to quote Ada Louise Huxtable, who pronounced a view in downtown Buffalo, NY as "the greatest urban vista in America." But she never said this. We figured out who did.

I've often wondered by there are so many "Grover Cleveland used to visit/live at [whatever #Buffalo address]" urban legends.

For the record, his Buffalo addresses are pretty well documented, as are the few times & places he visited Buffalo after being elected governor & president:

Currently doing some marking. A reminder to everyone involved in archives and collections: digitisation is not preservation. If I digitise a box of records and put the files on a USB stick I haven't preserved a thing. It's all about what you do with the files post-digitisation. #archives #digipres

Pretty much like Gates Circle in #Buffalo.
A perfect example of a public oasis made inaccessible. This beautiful plaza in Belo Horizonte 🇧🇷 is treated as a roundabout, marooning it in a chaotic sea of multi-lane traffic.

A place designed for people, with no safe way for people to get to it. This is a choice.

When a chatbot gets something wrong, it’s not because it made an error. It’s because on that roll of the dice, it happened to string together a group of words that, when read by a human, represents something false. But it was working entirely as designed. It was supposed to make a sentence & it did.
