This makes a lot of sense in a mafia-sort of way
Why the plan behind Trump's Tyranny By Trade War matters

It ties everything together—including why we keep underestimating Trump.

(And I don't mean to underestimate his abilities. I mean, underestimate his willingness to crash the world's economy like one of his dad's casinos.)

I just called my reps with @5calls.org, you should too: 5calls.org

5calls.org makes it easy to participate in Democracy. In this case, it was to ensure my Rep, Susie Lee (D-NV) opposed the Republican budget being voted on 2-25-25. Call your reps!

i think it is important to say that the open and explicit racism of the president and the vice president isn’t just uncouth or “controversial” but a direct attack on tens of millions of americans and a dereliction of their duty to represent the entire country

Just read that the President is picking a fight with Colombia. In the bigger scheme of things this is unimportant unless you drink coffee.

Bryan MacCormack, the executive director of a New York-based immigrant rights group, was pulled over by CBP with two undocumented passengers in the vehicle. He knew his rights, refused to acknowledge their "warrant", and despite CBP threatening him, the agents eventually were forced to let him go.

My first editor told me in 1998 the cover artist's job is to get that bookshop customer to pick up the book. The editor's job with back cover copy was to get them to open it and read the first page. My job was to write an opening to get them to turn that page to read on. Then we had a sale.
when i taught a writing workshop i told students to go to a bookstore and watch ppl browse. “what happens? you pick up a book. you read the front, the back, and a few sentences of the first page? right? that’s why. anyone can tell by the first paragraph whether the book will work for them or not."
For the writers upset that one short fiction editor can tell within the first few sentences if a story is a "no," I have even worse news for you:

This is nearly all short fiction editors.
