Fondly remembering the old days when millions of people were ripped away from their families and communities without any of us having to think about it.

american liberals are fine with millions of deportations as long as they happen quietly and the police don't hurt any white people. proud of it, really
Obama deported 3 million illegal immigrants during his time in office and I don’t remember a single scene like this.

This letter was just posted by the chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North/South Dakota:

“Our Nation is a sovereign government and our members are not immigrants. We are not subject to immigration enforcement on our own lands.”

Which gets back to the basic issue which is that police are not subjected equally to the law.

Normal citizens cannot draw guns and stand in front of cars and then murder the occupants “fearing” the situation they put themselves in

the reason people sometimes act madder at democrats than republicans when republicans do impossibly evil shit is the same reason why, if you hired an exterminator to handle a roach infestation and he showed up to feed and play with them instead, your first instinct wouldn’t be to yell at the roaches

Grok can't apologize. Grok can, when prompted, generate a word sequence that is statistically similar to the colloquial phrases we think of as "apologies," but Grok cannot actually apologize because Grok isn't sentient. But we all have a lot of trouble with this because we assume sentience IS speech

Playing Disco Elysium for the first time, and I really want to like the NPC’s who are friendly to me — but then I remember they’re being nice to a cop and that fuzzy feeling immediately sours.

ICE PEPPER SPRAYED A ONE-YEAR-OLD because her mother was filming them.
ICE pepper-sprayed this 1-year-old girl.

Once at the hospital, the doctor had to call in a poison control specialist.

They had never seen anyone that young pepper sprayed.

Another horrific story.

It’s widely known (and, I think, pretty uncontroversial) that learning requires effort — specifically, if you don’t have to work at getting the knowledge, it won’t stick.

Even if an LLM could be trusted to give you correct information 100% of the time, it would be an inferior method of learning it.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.
