The White House has been caught.

The administration inserted a photo of Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross into the Epstein files and falsely implied it showed them with victims.

In reality, it’s a publicly available fundraiser photo featuring Jackson and Ross’s own children.

This.⬇️
The managing director of Teesside airport is running the publicly owned business while holding a remarkable conflict of interest: he’s also on the books of an investor who tried to buy the airport and has snaffled up a large swathe of adjacent land.

Full story in the new Private Eye, out now.

It's hard to find the words for how disgusting this is. It completely silences girls' experiences of male violence. It fails to recognise the importance of education for prevention. It ignores the drivers of men's violence. And it's racist.

Oh and for good measure, which party cut police numbers?

Kevin knows.
I just think that Australia have more players who still know how to play Test cricket; reinventing the wheel is at times exciting but mess about with it too much & it comes off the road. Also whatever rights & wrongs of county cricket perhaps you can’t ignore/dismiss it & expect things to go well?

Ppl like @rbrooks45.bsky.social @leighsus.bsky.social and I haven’t been writing about all this because we’re randomly trying to cause trouble. It’s because we could see red flags everywhere. But the government will only find out why if they look - and perhaps they don’t want to know.

Almost certainly not on the hook are the developers at Teesworks, who have been doing very well out of their deal with the public sector.

One very key q:

If the STDC or the airport default on their loans, who is on the hook?

Is it the councils in one of the poorest parts of the country, or is it the govt, who would have to write off the debt?

A: nobody seems to know. Govt still hasn’t provided clarity

The South Tees Development Corporation, which carries out the regen of Teesworks, has received ~£500m in loans from the TVCA. But no loan agreements were in place. It’s now struggling to repay.

Nobody has ever done an inquiry into the airport and it cannot be FOId, due to an arcane share structure involving a charity. So its inner financial workings are opaque.

But the liabilities at STDC - and qs about who is on the hook - *had* been red flagged before, by the Tees Valley Review in 2024

TVCA had itself borrowed from the government and lent onwards to these orgs.

Uncertainty around the above repayments mean it’s now going back to borrow more.

TVCA has also lent £128m to the publicly owned airport since 2019.

It is only a going concerns thanks to TVCA support, the auditors note.

It has never repaid anything. Loan agreements again seem to be missing. Its
interest repayments are now being treated as bad debt
