One of the main things they teach us in disaster preparedness training is that when we hit critical mass like this “no one’s coming to save you”. It’s gut wrenching to watch that play out in LA right now. Thank you to the many brave first responders out there trying to get this contained 🔥

Weird to see all this focus on H1-B visas when the real problem is that companies are incentivized to hire offshore/nearshore work instead of any of us onshore (H1-B or otherwise). A huge chunk of the US tech job market has just been reallocated to cheaper markets with no penalty.

This morning I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to add someone to a shared album in Apple’s (very clunky) updated Photos app. How do you fumble user experience when you work for the gold standard!?
