Tomi Lahren just posted on the other place that the federal government should “let California go” and that California should get “not one dime.” Where does she think the federal government gets most of its dimes?

I feel like Gavin Newsome is having meetings where the big question of the hour is “What do people not want OR need”
If you care about traffic — if you care about not being late to work, coming home to your kids, and saving your time — you have to care about GenAI.

GenAI has come to traffic management, and this cutting-edge tool will help the state better serve all Californians.

- Make cops fund their own settlement insurance, like doctors with malpractice insurance
- Stop allowing incompetent, undertrained dolts to be police officers

Taxpayers should not be subsidizing the miscarriage of their own rights.

@golden.house.gov blew it today on that budget vote. Clearly only cares about CERTAIN constituents, just not women, immigrants, and disabled. What a fraud of a “Democrat”.

Wrote up something about Techdirt's recent coverage, and why (whether we like it or not) we need to be a "democracy blog" now, rather than just a "tech" blog (not that we've ever been just a tech blog).

This story is *the* story and it impacts everything else.

One of the main things they teach us in disaster preparedness training is that when we hit critical mass like this “no one’s coming to save you”. It’s gut wrenching to watch that play out in LA right now. Thank you to the many brave first responders out there trying to get this contained 🔥

Weird to see all this focus on H1-B visas when the real problem is that companies are incentivized to hire offshore/nearshore work instead of any of us onshore (H1-B or otherwise). A huge chunk of the US tech job market has just been reallocated to cheaper markets with no penalty.

This morning I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to add someone to a shared album in Apple’s (very clunky) updated Photos app. How do you fumble user experience when you work for the gold standard!?

One thing you will never think after reading a great book or listening to a great album or seeing a great piece of art is, “I’m really glad this person remained cautious while they were making this and guarded against being perceived as weird.”
