1. This is illegal

2. This is a direct attack on students and families across the country

3. It would make all of our lives much much worse in order to free up cash for Musk and Trump to hoover up for themselves and their fellow billionaires
Just restating the simple point: President lacks the constitutional authority to close a department created by Congress. Full stop. Both the creation and on-going funding of these Depts are LAWS not suggestions. This is criminal conduct. www.wsj.com/politics/pol... via @WSJ

USE your leverage.

CELEBRATE Rep. Green as a model of what it looks like to fight.

LET GO of decorum and the old rules already.
Hasn’t happened yet but now is the time to let the Democratic Leaders in Senate know that giving Republicans lifeline on a spending bill without reining in Musk is unacceptable.

Similarly there better not be any Dem votes to censure Green for standing up to Trump.
Obviously it hasn’t happened so we will see. But if Dems give Rs votes they need without guarantees on ending DOGE & impoundment, I will brook no more defenses of them.

DEMOCRATS IN CONGRESS: there have been times when you controlled the House & Senate, yet Republicans still found ways to block your legislation.

DO THAT TO THEM!

And—since the GOP won’t hold hearings, go home to your districts & hold mock hearings yourselves. Let the people see what’s really up!

Every Republican senator shares responsibility for what’s happening. They are complicit in, and share responsibility for, whatever mess Trump’s dangerous nominees cause.

But a few GOP senators from purple(ish) states face reelection next year — and we’re going to shine a light on their complicity.
What to do about Republican complicity
Republican senators have taken some bad votes over the past week. Really, really bad.
