The Epstein story gets a something that is tearing at the heart of the electorate: elite impunity. The idea that wealthy and powerful people can do terrible things *at scale* and face no consequences for them. Whatever political party actually stops it could rule the country for a generation.

I met Jim Watson once, at a Cold Spring Harbor conference in 2005. I gave a talk under a portrait of him that was at least 15 feet tall. He drove a big silver land-boat and parked it wherever he damn well pleased. In case you were wondering what he was like.

This needs more attention: Zohran SPLIT the straights with Cuomo. ALL of his margin was from LGBTQ+ voters. Every Dem who ever said “we should abandon the transes” needs this shoved down their fucking throat with a ramrod.

If you haven’t read A Girl and Her Fed webcomic, now’s a good time. Read it for its writing, its philosophy, its weirdo characters that you can’t help but love. Even its evolving art style. Just read it—you’ll enjoy it.
After 18+ years, A GIRL AND HER FED is done, at least for now. Everyone welcome our new god of joy to the Weirdness Pantheon.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

I just learned that as of October 14, I will no longer be allowed to travel on a commercial airline out of the United States. Customs and Border Patrol uses a system called APIS to verify travelers' credentials. The airlines collect this data and it must match your passport exactly. 1/

Watching so many people in high places go through the motions of polling and median-voter whispering can make you feel like you're in Bodysnatchers. It's worth a reminder that the typical experience of tyranny is...basically normal life. Which means we have to will ourselves to fight harder.
The Median Experience Of Tyranny
If the politics of tyranny were self-discrediting, we wouldn't need mantras like "never again."

I remember very clearly the first time I asked myself "am I trans?" It was in the dark, on an interstate highway, with a dear and trusted friend, and that thought was almost intolerably scary. There was no way I could have faced that question alone the first time, and I'm forever grateful to her.
Quietly knowing you’re trans can feel lonely, but it’s also a powerful beginning.

You’re collecting the courage, language and power you’ll need for the life ahead.

And most importantly, you’re building the foundation of your future self, brick by brick, in every private moment of recognition.
