It’s a major surprise to me that this is the first time it’s happened.

The methodology in defining a
top scientist was to look at the authors of the most cited papers in 129 scientific journals.

Since 2020, the number of U.S. top scientists has declined by 14% while it’s up by 77% in China.
China overtakes US in number of top scientists, signalling global talent shift
While the number of leading scientists in America is falling, the number in China is only going up, according to new data.

I think Aus doesn't get quite enough credit for being a strangely ambitious jurisdiction for mandatory climate reporting for companies (and I still don't understand quite why it has gone so well here)

Something that really worries me is how irritating, confusing and ultimately demoralising it is for people to get such jarringly different messages on climate progress.

One second they're seeing charts of solar projections and actuals far exceeding, and then they see "record high emissions"

Kat Tenbarge interviewed me about the migration to Bluesky among journalists.

It's easy to see why it's happening.

It's easier to find news, harder to spread disinfo, trolls don't drown out the good content, and links are not deprioritized.

It's a breath of fresh air for journalism to thrive in.
Journalists flock to Bluesky as X becomes increasingly 'toxic'
Journalists are finding more readers and less hate on Bluesky than on the platform they used to know as Twitter.
