I think I've done something wrong. I don't know what it was, but I'm dreading my annual appraisal 🐈😬

Despite looking like four plasterers, #TheMotors were purveyors of superior pub-rock-power-pop, as evident on two cracking singles (Airport and Grandstand theme soundalike "Forget About You"). Both feature on this, their second LP, released in '78. #Fridayvinyl #VinylCommunity #Vinylsky

OK - so I’m an addict and not remotely a critical judge where The Beatles are concerned. But oh man, I LOVE this version. The vocal.

Well, to begin with today, it’s the 110th anniversary of the actress Dulcie Gray, who in an early West End role attracted the attention of Aleister Crowley, who “supposedly invited her to be sacrificed at dawn in a ceremony at Stonehenge. She politely declined as she disliked getting up early”
Dulcie Gray
Born: November 20, 1915; Died: November 15, 2011.

I’ve been to the Whitworth Art Gallery shop to visit a print I was commissioned to create exclusively for them.
It’s very exciting to see my design for sale in the shop.

The early Lubitsch musicals in HD! Delmer Daves’ best film! William Holden’s greatest performance! Cassavetes’ humourless but well-acted mental illness epic! Jacques Tati’s boring piece of shit!
Criterion February releases.

I live miles out in the countryside in the Peak District these days. At night it’s very quiet. Used to live in Boscobel House in Hackney. My bedroom was on a level with the Liverpool Street northbound line. Occasionally, & just now, a load of screaming sirens go past & I’m ashamed to say I like it.

Frustrating to read the (Guardian-prompted) discourse around David Szalay's Flesh. It isn't a novel about being a man but a novel about being human. How do I know? Because I asked him in front of witnesses.

1. Aging gunslinger takes on one last hunt for a wanted bastard. (Preferably with a young and amusing/annoying partner.)
2. Literally any road movie.
3. Films in which Katherine Hepburn or Lauren Bacall talk incredibly quickly and smoke a lot.
4. Noirs. All of them.
5. 70s Films about les flics
- Films from 1932 in which three chorus girl gold diggers who share a flat try to survive the Depression
- Craggy former gunslinger bleakly confronts his life’s work
- Miscarriage of justice documentary
- Half-arsed ‘80s buddy comedy
- Holly Hunter whispering
What are your top 5 movie genres? Mine are:

- Roaring rampage of revenge
- Reluctantly, I must resume my life of violence
- On reflection, the risk assessment on our giant monster facility and/or attraction could have been more thorough
- Girl survives
- Crime but make it quirky
