Badgers, whisky, gardens, cheese, cats. Important stuff like that.
A bit of a chilly walk to the pub tonight. No doubt we'll be feeling a bit warmer on the stumble back home 🍷🍻🍷

Introduce yourself with what almost killed you.

Hi, I'm asthma.
Don't take my word for it etc...

Obligatory* "been there" photo. Harder to find than you migt expect - a huge shopping centre in the old Fiat factory, a bit out if town, and then it's up via a lift at the back of a small bookshop.
Turin's great all round tbh - the IJ locations were just the icing 😎

*not really but 🤷‍♂️

Oh. Goody - lots more fireworks, 'cos a more or less solid nine hours of the fuckers yesterday/this morning obviously wasn't enough 😡😡😡

Anyway, hope everyone is having whatever NYE is best suited to you.
We've opened the fizz and have the high summer playlist tinkling away. Just reached the Summer Wine point.
Cheers all 🥂
(sadly the fireworks have scared Molly upstairs to her under-a-bed sanctuary 😡).

An early NYE day/evening out for us to beat the rush.
Moved on to a Cannoli Negroni (leave the gun) and a Chai Banana Colada.
Wa, and indeed, hey 🍹😎

Cinnamon Oddfellows? I remember playing against them for the old Oadburians 2nds back in '75 when Basil "Strangely" Brown was still Captain.

THIS. Read Asterix in English, and see how Hockridge and Bell don’t just transliterate but remake whole puns and wordplays that sparkle in English culturally as well as linguistically. Flawless work that simply cannot be done without true understanding of *the concept of meaning*
AND ANOTHER THING, WHILE I'M AT IT:

ENOUGH WITH THESE BULLSHIT CLAIMS THAT AI CAN REPLACE HUMAN TRANSLATORS!!!

Translation is *not* the science of finding the perfect definition of a word from a foreign language and putting that definition into the text.

Translators translate, of course. But!

Mornin'.

Put some stale bread out on the lawn and, as if by magic, these lads rocked up again.

Alt: A view from the sofa. Molly the Ginger Mog is sitting on the arm of the sofa looking out to the garden where a herd of seagulls are descending from the sky down to the lawn.
Incl. obligatory magpie

"Leave the gun. Take the cannoli".

The Godfather has such excellent life advice.

Needs some chopped parsley, really.

Mornin'.

Squirrely shenanigans occurring - and it helps to explain why the badgers come along and dig ruddy great holes in my lawn every night 🤷‍♂️

My Polish neighbour came round yesterday and gave me two massive wedges of cake and a big ass tub of pierogi and let me tell you, as I sit here stuffing my face with crisped up rib-sticking dumplings, I can honestly say, huge fan of immigration.
