So the only thing I really had interest in about IKEA coming to nz was access to affordable zigbee lightbulbs and they seem to not have any TRÅDFRI bulbs, just some LED light controller :(

Compare with au: www.ikea.com/au/en/search...

I thought maybe compliance delay but we have TTMRA.

Does this apply for those of us naughty enough to already be ineligible for ESTA and have 10 year holiday visas?

Just like shared paths - anything as long as we don’t disrupt cars - just have cyclists and pedestrians fight it out.
It can feel like “chaos” but could bike-plus-pedestrian crossings be a gamechanger for Auckland’s intersections?

A fur seal has delighted Christchurch passersby by finding lunch in a suburban neighbourhood - kilometres from the coast.

Residents did a double-take as the NZ fur seal feasted on an eel in the Ōpāwaho Heathcote River in St Martins.

Ah this must be the reason - it’s not that I’m deeply uncool and have nothing interesting to say - I’m just being punished by big algorithm!
Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

My 5 year old manages just fine, I didn't even realise they were talking about these books as it was all so ... innocuous. We spend MUCH more time on the many stupidities of english than the pronunciation of a handful of (frequently reused) Māori words

(Replies are restricted, so sorry for quote)
"Too difficult" is code for "I refuse to try." It's not pedagogy; it's avoidance dressed up as concern. Let's stop pretending this is about children and discuss it as adult policy choices.

Govt using my kids school for politiking grosses me out, but more so when their culture war bullshit is so opposed to the things I love about the school - massive% (huge, like the vast vast majority) arrive on bike and foot plus a strong integration of Tikanga and Te Reo Māori

Overpriced apartments fill of grumpy boomers won’t solve our housing issues. Why nz can only build either unworkably small or overpriced apartments will always baffle me. It was cheaper to buy a city fringe villa than an apartment we could fit us and a kid in. Madness.
First render of Precinct Properties proposed Wynyard West development, which is expected to see ~200 apartments built adjacent to Silo Park and overlooking Westhaven Marina and the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

Does anyone have a good doctor in Christchurch familiar with ADHD treatment? (preferably central or south of the city!). Im still being treated by AKL based psych+GP as I’m worried about lectures, but would be better to have a local GP for when I’m sick (and to talk about changes to treatment!)
It won't be all doctors or nurses – I asked my otherwise cool new GP about changing meds on the basis of my existing special authority recently and got a lecture like I was a drug-seeker, which was irritating. But it will mean treatment is far more accessible and affordable.

so many cones, surely just one at each end of the site is enough to manage the risk? Honestly, they are in high vis and it has the arrow thing blinking, so really it needs no cones.

Do they really need that big blinky light on the truck? I bet that's expensive. Streetlights are enough, surely.
Happening tonight, in my ‘hood where people walk & bike in record numbers: the forcible and controversial raising of speed limits from 30kmh up to 50kmh, on quiet side streets, around schools and a retirement village.

The symbolism is too much. Under cover of darkness; written in blood; etc #nzpol
