If you are in political/advocacy comms, this is a must read. Tl;dr: polling is a tool to help us bring people along, NOT a tool that should dictate our stances.

These “creeps” wouldnt be in office if we had spent $30m to kick em out of office instead of passing a constitutional right to allow govt to interfere in pregnancy. Victim narrative is so tired. When will we fight smart?

Today, Planned Parenthood's CEO confirmed the organization considered a plan that would have allowed some affiliates to stop providing abortion care to preserve Medicaid eligibility, as Autonomy News reported in June.

The organization previously called our reporting "false" and "misleading."

The organization’s CEO confirmed Autonomy News’ reporting from June—but a federal appeals court ruling makes the issue moot, a spokesperson said.

I wish there was this kind of explicit and direct anger about implicit personhood laws being pushed in abobo rights policies.
The Atlantic should be ashamed of publishing this nightmare piece from Liz Bruenig, whose callous dismissal of Adriana Smith's dignity is one of the most shocking things I've ever read.

There have been weak and wrong takes about MO’s abortion legal battles. But this is not one of them. Read👇👇👇👇
I've got a new piece out on the astounding abuse of power from Missouri's AG and GOP lawmakers right now, all to try to undo the abortion rights constitutional amendment voters approved months ago—and also, how this should be a reality check on the tactic of "putting abortion on the ballot":
Missouri’s Historic Abortion Victory Is Crumbling Before Our Eyes
The state Supreme Court effectively restored an abortion ban voters believed they’d defeated just months ago. The reversal points up the risks of relying on ballot measures to ensure abortion access.

As a founding member of What's Next 4 MO, I'm grateful to @melissagiragrant.com to telling the full story of what happened and the continued fallout in our state. We believe people deserve to know so costly mistakes don't happen again.
For the June issue of TNR: I went long on the problems with the recent wave of abortion rights ballot initiatives, focusing on Missouri, which “won” back their rights in November, but for most Missourians, abortions are still nearly impossible to get.
