Got my hard copy of Denis's awesome second edition of his performance book. It's been my go-to book for anyone interested in learning low-level performance techniques. Highly recommended: freely available as a PDF too (grab the book if you can afford it). products.easyperf.net/perf-book-2

Since apparently being a nice person is illegal in the US now, it’s time to pull out my most popular blog post ever.
It’s called “survival tips for women in tech”, but I’m told it works for all genders and in countless industries.

Security pro tip: if you find a USB key on the ground somewhere, DO NOT plug it in to your home computer.

Take it to the office and plug it in there. They have way better software that will mitigate any threats.

We have just released the latest version of snmalloc. This release has two features I really enjoyed working on: BatchIt and a Combining Lock. I will describe these features in this post.
The high-level summary of the release is here:

I've been writing a lot about the terminal recently, and I've realized that there are two kinds of rules in the terminal:

- "Laws of Terminal Physics"(that are ~always true)
- Social Rules (that only work because people mostly agree on them)

here are some of the social rules!

Interesting fact: at @cern.bsky.social we still back up data (Exobytes = million terabytes) on tape because it is more reliable than hard drives. They also last longer, are cheaper and much more environmentally friendly

You can buy old tapes as souvenirs🤩 📼
