Stumbled upon this great tutorial for C/C++ devs who want to port highly parallel code to Rust.

Shows OpenMP -> Rayon migration, tricks for instruction level parallelism, SIMD, compares assembly and performance of gcc/clang/rustc generated code, and overall explains the concepts very well.

It took forever, but I figured out how to build NetHack's Qt interface!

I really can't get into the TTY version since it's too archaic even for me, but Fedora doesn't package nethack-qt and the AUR package is out of date. Needed to patch the game for modern GCC but it'll do for now.

The player character is in a rectangular room with a cat, a jackal and a fountain (which is very lucky since Valkries start with a longsword that, at level 5, they can dip into a fountain to turn into Excalibur because, like I said, Law is the best alignment).

between the 9th and the end of the game i compiled a GCC 2.95 with --enable-languages=c to bootstrap the rest of GCC 2.95 and it finished just as the dodgers walked it off. fuck you i'm going to bed now

Also, Go can be bootstrapped on multiple operating systems and architectures, from multiple C compilers, all the way to perfectly reproducible toolchain tarballs, and Source Spotter is automatically checking!
When reproducing Go 1.21, 1.22, and 1.23, Source Spotter uses a Go 1.20.14 toolchain that was built from source by bootstrapping all the way from Go 1.4, which bootstrapped from C. To mitigate Trusting Trust attacks, the Go 1.20.14 toolchain was built on multiple operating systems and architectures, using both gcc and clang for the Go 1.4 bootstrap. The same bytes were produced every time.
