As the old adage goes, "There are no atheists in foxholes."
Wow!

Check out this cool working paper.

"War Causes Religiosity"

The authors scraped web images of hundreds of thousands of gravestones of deceased Americans.

They found that people who were randomly drafted into war are at least 20% more likely to have religious gravestones.

So... In other words when given a choice between white supremacy and a multiethnic America, white supremacists stick with their racialized value structure. Which makes sense, because otherwise they would not be white supremacists in the first place. If anything, priming probably creates a backlash
🚨 “We just need to recognize that we’re all citizens of this country.” –– Politicians + citizens often stress a shared national identity when trying to bridge racial, partisan, or other group divides.

@stysyropoulos.bsky.social & I show why such “shared” identities are doomed to fail.

We are only in a state of war because Trump has all but declared war on America
Rep. Michael McCaul on Stephen Miller threatening to suspend habeas corpus: "The courts are gonna decide this one as to whether this invasion in fact constitutes what would be a state of war. Some would say it would."

Because the opt in voters knew what Trump was because they paid attention. The opt out voters believed his lies and were caught flat footed.

East Germany (1989)

The Berlin Wall didn’t fall because of bombs

it fell because East Germans protested week after week, peacefully, until the regime cracked.

Real power lies with the people, not the walls they build to control us.

So now all the “fiscal conservatives” in Congress who complained for the last 4 years that the Biden/Pelosi budget deficits were “mortgaging our kids’ futures” are on a path to pass a budget that will explode the deficit exponentially to far more than any of the Biden years.

And this is why I have been saying that it is futile to count on the courts to stop this fascist administration. They are a delay tactic at best. SCOTUS is in the bag, 6-3 (well 5.5-3.5... Turns out ACB isn't 100% on board with the dictator thing).
The Trump administration is comfortable disappearing people to foreign gulags partially because the Trumpis Justices on the Roberts Court have enabled him at every turn, rewriting the Constitution when necessary to accommodate Trump's lawlessness www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Producerism is not an economic position. It is, in fact, a gender ideology.

Making Things = Manly, Authentic, Rooted

Service = Feminine, Inauthentic, Cosmopolitan

This is disguised by pretending to punch up at elites who “don’t make anything” and “just move numbers around.” That’s why it confuses
“McDonalds workers in Denmark make more than Honda workers in Alabama” is such a key point. It’s the institutions, stupid.

It’s the good ol fashioned patriarchy. If you don’t believe women should leave the house or vote, then why would you make work easier for them? Any accommodations to women working just encourages what is, from a Christian Nationalist viewpoint, aberrant behavior.

We tore them down once. We'll tear them down again.
Confederate monuments were *quite literally* an effort to “perpetuate a false reconstruction of American history” by promoting the Lost Cause work of white supremacists who wanted to rewrite the history of the Civil War and, yes, Reconstruction.
I _think_ this portion of the “restoring history” EO is meant to compel restoration of Confederate monuments. Aside from this being mere guidance, though, I see a snag: how does it “perpetuate a false reconstruction of American history” to remove shrines to people who rebelled against us?

A very old Soviet joke, from an especially dark time:

Foxes are fleeing the USSR in droves.
Q: Why are you running away?
Fox: The Soviets passed a new law that they’re going to arrest all camels.
Q: But you’re foxes!
Fox: Yeah, why don’t *you* try proving to the NKVD that you’re not a camel.
If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

So the official position of the white supremacist government is, unsurprisingly, that “race is a biological reality.”

Apparently, not believing this is “insane.”

Important to note that for fascists, ALL the identity categories (race, sex, etc.) have to be “real” and frozen so they can manage them
