I’m not saying I moved to Wheaton for the bragging rights of my home station having the longest escalator in the Western Hemisphere…but I am a nerd & have entirely too many Wheaton escalator facts in my head.
With 647 escalators & 320 elevators, Metro has more than any other transit system in North America & don’t forget Wheaton Station, where you’ll find the longest escalator in the Western Hemisphere.

Your safety is important. Review our escalator/elevator safety tips: www.wmata.com/service/elev...

you could call your democratic senators and ask them to replace schumer as minority leader

Senator Schumer is no longer effective and should be replaced. If you can’t lead the fight to stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing for Americans, what will you fight for?

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Looks like the Dems will pick up 12 seats in the VA House of Delegates, which will go from 51-49 to 63-37 D-R. That's an honestly shocking result.

No, they don’t have to.

TRUMP is CHOOSING TO CANCEL FOOD ASSISTANCE. There are literally emergency dollars available to keep SNAP funded.

Since 2020, we have been posting data from every police crash report involving a non-motorist in Montgomery County MD.

In 2023, when the MD State Police started posting crash data ✨with ages✨, we were shocked to find out how many of those non-motorists were children.
Finally, it’s quite honestly shocking just how many children are struck by drivers each year in our county. Most of them—almost all of them—survive, so their stories don’t get traction.

@evanmglass.bsky.social @willjawando.bsky.social and @andrewfriedson.bsky.social want to lead Montgomery County but I have heard nothing from them about how they will reform MCDOT to start installing real safety improvements for pedestrians and bikers.

Do nothing, and we'll keep seeing more deaths.

What are reforms to help save kids?

1) Engineering.

We need more stop signs like the one that being installed where Summer Lim died. Road diets. Protected bike lanes. Pedestrian-activated beacons at higher-conflict crossings. Real traffic signals.

We know where to put them from crash data.
Under the leadership of @mcgexec.bsky.social, MCDOT has continued the ossified approach of prioritizing traffic speeds, making all road users less safe.

I need Montgomery County CMs (including @cmkatestewart.bsky.social and
@evanmglass.bsky.social) to push for real reforms to stop killing kids.

Drivers routinely speed down Sligo Ave through East Silver Spring (where I live) despite the high volume of pedestrians, due to a lack of stops and traffic calming elements.

A child was recently hit at this intersection but MCDOT refuses to consider stop signs. This approach is killing pedestrians.

Food insecurity is ALWAYS a political choice. Famine is ALWAYS manmade. People go hungry because of other people’s decisions. We have more than enough food for everyone, and enormous amounts of it are wasted—literally thrown in the garbage—on purpose.

Happy to have had my testimony quoted. There are huge movements to address gun violence in schools (rightfully). But the biggest danger most kids face daily is their walk to school.
