Clair Obscur is a totally fine game but man it was weird to know back in April that this was gonna be how it all played out.
The way in which the game is discussed, the narrative around the game so quickly consumed the reality of the thing itself in a way I found personally frustrating.

On the topic of birds, we had twenty doves roosting in one of the trees, and along the roof of the house behind our place. This is a view of just a handful of them outside our window. Usually there are only two or three, but yesterday twenty gathered to warm themselves in the morning sun.

It is unclear at this juncture what exactly *is* allowed to exist in games. Fluffy wholesome bullshit, jingoistic military murder sprees and number-go-up fantasy RPG grinds seem to be the only permissible forms left.
