I think it's sweet that the oldest surviving printed book in the world - the Diamond Sutra - is also the oldest creative work explicitly released into the public domain, with a colophon at the end that says it was created for universal free distribution.

The machine spins, the chimneys belch, lights across the globe flicker, and a whole civilisation waits with bated breath for the grand pronouncement.

At last a screen flashes, clears, and upon it appear two fateful words:

America, you have spoken loud and clear: You do not like AI. But what if AI is the way to restart the world’s idea machine?
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

The move to simultaneously ban children from interacting with each other online and encourage them to replace their every opportunity for thought with a machine-interaction really ought to be the plot of a novel.

Sadly, we have to live it instead.
“The AI industry is essentially unregulated, which has placed the burden for the well-being of kids heavily on the shoulders of parents.”

As a parent of young children, I cannot emphasize enough how schools need to stop socializing children into GenAI users through partnerships with Big Tech.

Hey @bsky.app just because I like design and classical music doesn't mean I want to see dozens of topless hairy middle age gay selfies every day. Maybe your algorithm needs a bit of calibration... Or is there an insinuation in the "discover" tab I'm missing ...

Happy birthday to the rail bridge at Murray Bridge.
100 years old today.
Seen here in the foreground of this pic of mine from 2019.
The bridge behind is the old one which is now the road bridge.

So, AI music: sure it can rip off existing content convincingly, but does this mean there is a facility to issue performance instructions for original material and get a performance rendering? You can do that with vocals it would seem... What about other instruments? This would be of benefit...
