Thank you again to everyone out there! Another year down, another million raised, and so many people who will be helped because of what you've done with us this year and every other! We couldn't do this without you, and through all the laughs and the tears, we wouldn't want it any other way...

On what would have been James Baldwin’s 101st birthday, we honor his legacy of challenging our nation to live up to its promises of liberty and justice for all.

This is a new Murderbot short story, coming out later this week on Reactor Magazine. It’s about ART and its crew, set before Network Effect, and how ART finally decided to tell them about meeting a rogue SecUnit.

I've always found patriotism tricky. Holding the fragile line between an aspirational belief in what we could be and an understanding of how often we fail is hard.

But this essay is a reminder that, even when we struggle as a nation, showing up for each other offers hope for what we could be.
"But the only way we’re going to get through this painful era is remembering that the best moments in our country are when we look out for each other. It’s when we build community. It’s when we don’t leave others behind."
What Mr. Ramirez Taught Me
July Fourth means community.

if you have a D senator, take 1 minute to call. you can be quick.

“senator _____ must to raise a point of order on the floor & challenge budget section 71114's anti-trans medicaid ban."

want to say more? last week’s D all-star ran an explicitly pro trans care campaign! it's not a losing issue! ⬇️🧵
a lot of electeds are cowards who won’t do anything they’re afraid will cost *them* no matter who it helps.

if you’re calling to demand the anti trans propositions in the budget get challenged, can’t hurt to remind them mamdani beat money & endorsements running an explicitly pro-trans campaign!

i know a lot else is going on, but US folks PLEASE call your senators - they are actively set on trying to ban trans healthcare on Medicaid entirely which trans people like me who are on Medicaid actively depend on for life-saving healthcare
The Senate reconciliation bill retains the trans healthcare Medicaid/CHIP ban.

Call your Senators, we still have a good shot at killing this provision.

Hundreds of thousands of people rely on this care.

$205,069.69 is a very real number you made happen over the course of 24 hours with Desert Bus Express, and we couldn't be more grateful for your generosity.

All the people I still know in LA laugh and laugh when they hear that "Los Angeles is burning." I made a couple of maps to show just how tiny and localized the protests are. GOPers are working really hard to make an excuse for declaring martial law. People should be very wary of that.
