Are you a gamedev who's not using any GenAI in your pipeline? I'm currently compiling a list of such statements, either in the press, social media, or directly through your credit roll. Feel free to add more examples below.

It's still so disgusting of them to say that someone being murdered in broad daylight for no reason is just "bait".

The reactionary centrist logic is simple: if the left does something bad it’s the left’s fault, and if the right does something bad, it’s also the left’s fault for making them do it. It’s a simple formula and once you see it every one of their arguments is the same

You’re right that no one wants to talk about it, because despite all their whining to the contrary, police departments are among the most unaccountable entities in this country. Every failing they have gets turned into a justification for yet more funding.

We have so many examples of police departments being in open revolt with their own municipal governments, big and small. Chesa Boudin go ousted in San Francisco with the help of cops deliberately slowing response time (and lots of VC money). NYPD went after de Blasio’s daughter. Etc etc.

In the US you can show up to support your neighbors and community and if you try to avoid getting arrested by a federal agent and the agent decides to kill you, the Vice President of the country will go on tv and say you were a left wing agent provocateur and deserved death

I don’t think they’re misreading them so much as they are terrified of the implications because it means the status quo has to break. there’s no incrementalism for this. mass radicalization of this scale scares Democrats more than anything Republicans could do and I mean that literally.
Kind of feel like a lot of politicians, even in Minnesota, are misreading the implications of this moment. I feel like the past three days have been tremendously radicalizing for so many people. I have witnessed it even in my own small communities, it goes beyond just incandescent rage.

Unclear to what extent they really believe the "There are good cops! The cops are not all bad!" stuff versus saying it because they can conceive of no alternative to saying it and kinda hoping it's true.

This is from months ago and nothing is changing and the fundamental problem is clear from watching any state or local elected official at a press conference after the cops fuck up: they are scared shitless of the police they are nominally in charge of.
A lot of blue mayors and governors know the "don't give an order you don't expect to be obeyed" leadership maxim but interpret it as "I guess I can't order the cops to do anything" rather than as a crisis of insubordination.
One thing I have not seen much grappling with: the Trump Administration has acted illegally with respect to the National Guard & Marines in LA plus the whole parade nonsense is a federal show of power, but cops ostensibly controlled by local governments in blue cities attacked protestors yesterday.

In unrelated news, it looks like Saturn Descent got far enough to be playable. I'm not convinced that we actually have enough of it, based on a document I found a lot of the data was stored in different places. But there might be some chance of figuring it out.

this is an invented crisis. these are 'crimes' that should not be, never should've been. it is one enabled and supported by both parties and keeps getting worse, presidency to presidency.

'we need somebody to enforce the law': lot of those laws shouldn't have existed in the first place.

...but you also got that with the 1986 bill passed that granted straight up amnesty to about 3 million undocumented immigrants.

meanwhile? with bill clinton's time in office, deportations rose up to over 800 thousand people.

george bush junior? over 2 million.

barack obama? 2.7-3 million.

if you rolled back those immigration standards to what they were pre-bill clinton, pre-operation gate keeper and somehow managed to get media to stop panic mongering about it? the 'crisis' pretty much disappears. this *isn't a real problem*. it is an invented one that we do not need to punish.

'crime' vis a vis immigration here is a twin beast erected by media and a government, regardless of which party was in charge, that was all too glad to demonize and/or punish immigrants for their own purpose. this crisis, these 'crimes' are only a concern because they decided it must be.

what is a 'crime' here stops being that if all these things were rolled back. this isn't a 'no duh, it stops breaking the law if it's not a crime anymore' thing, it's that what we criminalized with immigration did not actually hurt anyone, it was *not* a problem. we *made it* a problem.

much of what is 'breaking the law' with the border or is some kind of 'immigration crisis' is because congress and presidents, bipartisanly, made things that used to be normal about immigration and border passage, illegal. we created our own 'crisis', our own 'crime' that must be enforced against.

weigel's a shit in general so whatever, no point to caring what he thinks, but also there's this mindset about immigration law that passes through plenty of regular ass people's minds, that we gotta enforce it.

and have never considered we *made* many formerly normal things w/immigration illegal.
