I hate that going on the computer is just for getting mad now. computers used to be for sending your friends a mysterious file called free_drink_coaster.exe that popped out their cd tray when they ran it. we have lost our way

When asked why would I open source software that is usually only available commercially my answer is: Cunningham's Law states "the best way to get the right answer on the internet is not to ask a question; it's to post the wrong answer."

the problem with tackling "wasteful government bureaucracy" is it's like deleting files from your computer called hostserver.dll that look useless and take up a lot of space and then your computer stops working

Funniest thing I’ve heard about today is normies seeing the Twitter app change to a black X icon and deleting it because they assume they got malware

Elon Musk made an idiotic but binding offer while he was on drugs then spent weeks very publicly saying he didn’t want to buy the company and trying to worm out of it while twitter’s board threatened to sue him and STILL there are absolute idiots who think this is some kind of 17-dimensional chess.
I simply don’t believe Elon Musk is strategic enough to buy Twitter just to kill it.

I do think he genuinely wanted his own sweet social media site, and he’s willing to kill it if he gets frustrated enough.

But was fucking up so bad and so publicly his original intent all along? I don’t think so.

Threads makes a lot of sense when you remember what Zuck wanted the Metaverse to be: a heavily branded, inscrutable morass where you might have a fleeting, benign interaction with a celebrity who immediately tries to sell you an Apple Watch.

New: I wrote about the degradation of Google Search due to SEO and the garbage work consumers and businesses have to do to find stuff and be found.

With AI tools increasingly being used, the problem is poised to spiral.

This works really well, good job 👏👏👏
Just discovered this tool that helps you find your Twitter follows over here. Super helpful and should go a long way toward making the Bluesky experience feel more like the version of Twitter that we actually liked. https://skeet.labnotes.org
