I know everyone is only playing Silksong right now but I just finished Neva by @nomada.studio and wow, what an incredibly beautiful game. Actual tears so many times.

Rayman 2 on the N64. The ghouls that fly through the swamp are terrifying, but something about that little whispering guy really did me in as a kid 💀
What was the first video game that scared you?

It doesn't have to be a horror game. Maybe you didn't even play it -- plenty of ads freaked me out as a kid.

I’m trying to stop waiting until things are “done” to post them and focus on sharing the journey instead. So here’s a half-done sketch of a chef because I’m trying to flesh out the art side of my game dev skills. Feedback welcome! I’m here to learn 💪

It took us the first 30h of the jam to land on an idea, but somehow we still pulled it off! Our GMTK Jam entry this year is a cozy puzzle game about conveyor belt sushi. #gmtk

I’ve been in a bit of a game dev slump recently, so #GMTKJam is the perfect opportunity to kick out the cobwebs and build something! Top goals this year are “complete experience” and “not horribly broken”.

if you'd like more stability in your game and less monotonous QA work, but figured automated tests were complicated and a big investment, you should check out 🌟asset tests!🌟

but first let me tell you about an exploding barrel bug🧵

Mixed feelings about this article. Yes, creatives absolutely deserve access to stability. But this feels like it’s complaining that game dev is accessible now, as though the success of indies is “unfair” to the big studios. Indies make original games that large studios won’t—they could change that.

with the switch 2 price increases i've seen multiple posts lately going "why should i pay $70-$80 for a AAA game when i can buy five indie games for that price" and like. i appreciate the sentiment, but you realize that those indie games realistically should cost more but are undercharging, right

Appreciate that the South of Midnight credits feature an Alumni section, instead of not crediting (or "downgrading") people who depart before the project ships. It's a respectful way of handling an inevitability on years-long productions and should be the norm. Congratulations to the team 🙏

Reposting mainly as a reminder to myself 😅 There are a lot of lessons in here I definitely learned the hard way, especially the “don’t you say a damn word the entire test”.
Let’s talk playtesting, shall we?

After playtesting dozens of games for tabletop, PC/console, and installations, I've learned a thing or two about how to test well. So I figured it's a good time to remind folks about playtesting best practices while we're all hyped up with inspiration from GDC. 🧵

In no particular order, here’s a thread of some amazing indie games I encountered at #gdc. I know there were so many more! What am I missing?

As a self-taught indie dev, GDC is the first time I’ve gotten to feel like a “real” member of the industry. Back-to-back I was meeting like-minded creators, developers whose work I already knew, and industry vets with amazing insights. It was pretty surreal. Thanks everyone 🙏

A huge thank you to @merryh.bsky.social @dtrebella.bsky.social and @sarahpodz.bsky.social for the panel they gave on Tuesday– it’s my single most valuable takeaway from GDC so far. I walked away with a (finally!) clear vision of how to structure the marketing strategy for our next release.
