No I think the consultants fees are really reasonable actually. Just covering costs I’m sure.

If Labor were rly not raising welfare rates bcos of the 'culture wars', they could make a plan to do it as soon as parliament comes back. Just chuck a hundred dollars or two at each payment. Surely the right wing & 'centrist' press will still be too occupied to get upset about it.

This is interesting. I worked in a large book store for several years and, while I always had a bottle of water handy, I would also have a couple of paracetamol in my pocket in case of a dehydration headache. I always thought of it as a 'work' thing, but it stopped when I left that job.
There was one thing that none of my mentors told me about life in a large bookshop....

The pages of 45000+ books slurp a lot of water out of the air 📚

The humidity in here is currently 25%. When the temperature drops, it can get down to 20%.

Nobody warned me I'd need gallons of moisturizer 🙄

And it's not just the disease deaths of babies that RFK Jnr & his idiot minions will cause. It's miscarriages, stillbirths, sterilisation, child brain injury & suffering to survivors. Millions used to die, we fixed it, & toxic male ego is going to make millions die again. Vax up, it's coming.
I cannot state any more baldly or clearly than I already have about what an immense menace RFK Jr. is. The number of preventable illnesses and deaths - of *babies* - will be horrific. This anti-vax crap is grotesque anti-science, and always has been.
Congratulations to everyone who wrote an op-ed about how he just wants americans to eat better

Personally, I'd prefer it if Canada's Charter didn't allow politicians who are obsessed with the genitals of children to take away the rights of those children in order to indulge their twisted obsession with controlling those children and their genitals.

The key thing to understand is that he has been trying to do this all along. It is not new. He in fact did this with the Dural caravan fake bomb nonsense, hyping it up as terrorism in order to pass new rushed laws when he and authorities knew from the outset that it was staged. He is not fit to lead

You know a thing that is very bad about this? This is the anti-trans playbook being played against women. Start with 'has the x movement failed the people it's supposed to help', then infantilize them, then make the case they can't be responsible for their own choices, then take their rights away

At the moment it’s limited to public assemblies (protesters the easiest targets), but logically why stop there? Contentious discourse in the media, online, running for office, in parliament etc could all cause disharmony.
Shocking to blame Gaza protesters (which include his own MPs), but even more disturbing is the rationale for protest repression.

It isn’t about risk at the event. It’s that expressing contentious political views might vaguely undermine community harmony.

The problem is political expression itself.

This is why Minns and Labor want to ban mass protest. That's us, queued up in the pissing rain & wind for more than an hour to get onto the HB. Never in their wildest fever dreams did Zionists or Labor collaborators see this coming. And they know they can't control it with narrative story telling.
