My hunch is that, as we saw with Lafayette Park, National Guard troops are not going to be as compliant as this administration thinks. It’s one thing to unleash cops consumed by warrior cop culture on neighborhoods. Quite another to send reservists who are also accountants, barbers, and teachers.

We're no longer the leader of the free world. We're no longer a beacon of democracy and justice. We're no longer the land of opportunity. We're no longer a nation in which no one is above the law. Our myths about ourselves are killing us. What to do?

one thing about americans, we will make our own lives worse and more expensive if it means a group we think is “undeserving” gets punished
Contrary to claims made by its proponents, the mass deportations' components of the Big Beautiful Bill will not improve its CBO score. Indeed, it will make it much worse. Accounting for lost net revenue from immigrants adds nearly $1 trillion in additional cost.

In the face of abundant evidence about the devastation DOGE has caused, the laziness with which it went about its business, the dishonesty and lack of transparency, the self-dealing, the stealing of personal information, that it still gets described this way is a failure of journalism.

"The drones won't just be eyes in the sky. They will be able to communicate with homeless people. The department said this will prevent officers from exposing themselves to potential risk, such as loose animals, terrain issues and other hazards until they are sure it is safe to move in."
Sacramento County to use drones to track homeless people on probation
The county's probation department said it needs the drones to contact homeless people who are on probation, specifically in hard-to-reach spots like along the American Parkway.

“Democrats are seen as weak, whereas Republicans are seen as strong.”

Because that’s the dynamic we’ve seen in American politics for decades. Democrats can’t even uniformly oppose Trump’s nominees when the admin is doing after congressional Dems!

Dems are quietly forming a think tank to help them win again
Searchlight, a name inspired by the birthplace of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, comes at a precarious moment for a Democratic Party.

That's right. Politics = how we allocate our resources and implement our values.
Democrats will come across like a focused grouped robot who is just telling voters “positions” you think they want to hear. Most regular people don’t vote on issues.

Running with values and a point of view that is true to yourself, even if voters disagree, is always a better path.
