TRAIN DREAMS is out in limited theatrical release today. It will be on Netflix in a couple of weeks, but here's the thing: If you are at all able to, you really should see it on a big screen. You will not regret it.

I have some quibbles with the movie, but mostly: a gorgeous & immersive ode to our own irrelevance in the vast world, a plea for us to realize that our immaterial nature does not absolve us from morality, an exploration of what defines a life and how our only legacy is other people. I wept so much.

There’s not a single movie this year that has moved me like this, and is such essential viewing on a BIG screen. It’s so beautiful beyond words - can’t recommend it highly enough.

Saw this today in a goddamn movie theater (The Crest in Shoreline WA - not my usual spot, but where both my kids saw their first movie and where later today I will return with my 16yo to see GDT's Frankenstein).

It's extraordinary. Movies are the best.

Please help my dear friend Tasneem in Gaza. I'm posting a screenshot of her latest account as Bluesky constantly deletes Gazans. They are displaced, hungry and without work or resources. They rely entirely on our donations to survive.

Please give to Tasneem. And to others. ❤️🙏
