The replies to this are full of people yelling at Kat, a Palestinian-American politician, for not supporting the shooting of low-level staffers in DC, which has only had the effect of drawing coverage *away* from the genocide in Gaza & provided a pretext for future suppression of peaceful protests.
I’m horrified by the murder of two Israeli embassy staffers at an event in DC last night.

The fact that the gunman said he did it to “free Palestine” makes me nauseous. Murdering people for their nationality is never acceptable and this violence hurts Jews, Israelis, *and* Palestinians.

It was the Flores settlement that eventually ended OADS. Very bad if this is ended.
In a widely-expected move, the Trump admin is making yet another effort to terminate the Flores Settlement, which since the 1990s has imposed limitations on the government's treatment of children in immigration detention.

They lost every effort to do this in Trump's first term.
NEW: Today, the Trump admin filed to end the Flores Settlement-an agreement that provides basic safeguards for children in federal immigration custody.
We, @chrclla.bsky.social & @childrens-rights.bsky.social will keep fighting to defend these children’s health & safety. youthlaw.org/news/trump-a...

remember this; try

if the things some people are trying look useless or stupid to you maybe they are, find something that seems smart. and keep an eye on whether or not the shit other people are trying works.
“it matters to try”

that’s everything, friends

i don’t give one gat damn if the odds are slim for any one particular action

we have to try

that’s the moral and ethical injunction for all of us living in 2025

we have to try
ok. that's all i've got.

today's democrats aren't who will liberate us in the end, but the folks nearest institutional power are the ones who can, while things are bad, most easily help hold up the falling sky & buy time.

this shit can be both "not enough" & "really matter."

it matters to try.🏳️‍⚧️💜

I just want to say what should be obvious here: we're supposed to have 3 co-EQUAL branches of govt to check each other. I grew up with very powerful House speakers and senate leaders who defended the powers of their branch. Now we have the opposite of "Profiles in Courage". Lindsey Graham anyone?
