Wanting Scottish or Welsh independence is not reactionary nationalism. Reactionary nationalism is wrapping yourself in British flags, supporting Brexit & banging on about immigration.

You don't get a free pass from reactionary nationalism because you're British.

It is not only normal, but it is a right. Scotland was an independent country once, and is entitled to be so again, if that’s what the people of Scotland want). The wishes of the UK Government, Westminster and Whitehall are frankly irrelevant.

PS. I say that as Englishman living in England.

Many of the reactions to Marine Le Pen's verdict in court this week framed it as an antidemocratic attempt to bar an opposition candidate from running for the French presidency in 2027.

But these talking points misrepresent what actually happened.
Marine Le Pen’s conviction caused a political firestorm. Here’s what actually happened.
The French far-right leader’s allies at home and abroad slammed the guilty verdict as antidemocratic.

Quick reminder: Le Pen wasn't found guilty because the French courts hate democracy. She was found guilty because she broke the fucking law.

BBC Scotland is no longer even trying to hide the fact that its main goal is to protect the Labour party in Scotland, the current holders of the poison chalice "Saviours of the Union."
Every English BBC region had lengthy segments dedicated to Labour's welfare cuts on their Sunday Politics show as did BBC Wales. The odd one out was BBC Scotland. Here is every intro from every English programme. Any explanation Martin Geissler? Are you proud of this?
