Hey, hi, hello! I should probably start posting on here to avoid being a total creeper. This is a small embroidered binding I did in a class with my friend Erin Fletcher a few years ago. I don't have much new work to share right now, so will probably post a smattering of old work + my cat. <3

Hard to square the pro-natalist movement that wants to see more (white) babies making common cause with these anti-vaccine lunatics who want to see more dead babes. And yet.
It is utterly catastrophic that RFK Jr. plans to end CDC recommendations for most childhood vaccines.

It’s a betrayal of science, ethics, compassion, and the people of the United States.

And it was also a specific goal of Project 2025 (page 254).

The current circulating strain(s) of influenza are causing severe morbidity & deaths in pregnant people and young children.

Vaccines are still available but it takes about 2 weeks for them to take effect. If you’re part of one of these populations, be cautious around holiday gatherings.

This is a reminder of how much it matters that pediatricians, public health specialists, scientists and members of the public who care about vaccines and science based recommendations continue to speak up. Many voices break through.

RFK Jr. wanted to endorse the Danish vaccine schedule. He was forced to pull back.

Not recommending vaccines on a national level will harm children.
Deferring all decision making to doctors while also systematicslly undermining everything that doctors recommend harms children.
This is a deadly policy change.

U.S. plans to stop recommending most childhood vaccines, defer to doctors
The plan, which is not finalized, suggests children get fewer shots and shifts to a model telling parents to consult doctors to make their own vaccine choices.

For folks curious re the news re gender affirming care for trans youth I wrote a quick summary in the BDNH newsletter

It’s NOT a national ban.

it creates no new civil or criminal penalties, it is a proposal to wield the power of the purse to discriminatorily deny care

YOU DUMB FUCKS. THIS IS ME.

I have a scooter. I can walk. I can't, however, walk through 80 miles of airport. I can walk onto an airplane or through hallways. I can't walk the .5 mile to the convention center.

People, get smarter, it's embarrassing at this point.

I raised this article earlier on a call and said that even if one in 20 people (which is a high guess) doesn't really need it, who cares. There are more pressing disability stories that could be told. Like wheelchairs being broken.

Also dynamic disability exists!

This is why you never give an inch to the bigots. All those centrists dems (Newsom, Mayo Pete) claiming there are concerns around trans kids, you're complicit in this.

This doesn't get rid of trans people, it just makes them suffer unbearably. Get your head straight: trans rights are human rights.

So anyway, Justin can stuff a sock in it.

Also, reminder that many disabled people are barred from marriage due to policy.
