Hello I'm Bri and I like to draw and scream about ideas and I'm definitely not obsessed with sensei wu

I am visually impaired; please be kind
Misako was scared but brave and very well behaved for the vet, ans she's healthy and doing well :)

It's crazy how different my confidence in getting up/down stairs is with and without my cane.

When I've got my cane I can just go up/down quickly, not much care in the world.

But without my cane, I'm slow, taking careful steps.

Maybe this is subconsciously why I haven't finished the last season of the good doctor yet...
Always sucks when you hit the finale of a tv show you’ve been binge watching for comfort.

I say this with love: use alt text, and READ alt text even if you aren’t visually-impaired.

It saves me and other herpers from having to say our pets’ species a zillion times and provides context during slow load times! Alt text makes this place better for everyone, and part of Bsky culture!

My other hot take is, instead of spending 10 billion to terraform Mars they could undo the damage from deforestation and clean the oceans here on Earth

Barely looked at the TV for not even like three seconds and knew it was the third Harry potter movie on the TV even before I saw a recognisable character

Hate that i still have so much knowledge of this series, and the love I used to have for it is now replaced by sadness and hurt

Cats are very helpful pets when you're blind lmao

Misako has taken care of a lot of cockroaches. Her being in hunting mode has alerted me to two spiders (one of which was on the wall right behind me) and a weird bug neither my dad or I could identify.

Would you ever grab hold of a stranger who’s not in danger & didn’t request you to do so?

If answer is no, then why do so many #Blind people have stories of this happening to them?

If we need help; we’ll ask. Don’t make assumptions & put hands on us without permission🙏😎

I’m nagging!
Please, please use alt-text on pictures.
It takes just a few seconds & means visually impaired users of BlueSky have the same experience as sighted people.
Also, capitalise words in hashtags so screen reading software, for visually impaired people, can make sense of hashtags.
Thanks!

PSA for newbies:

Please include ALT text on your images.

This is an inclusive space for blind and visually impaired people.

Don't arrive late to the party and ignore a bunch of people.

Also, please share this skeet, rather than liking it, to ensure the message gets delivered.

Thanks!

Just an FYI and a reminder. Alt Text isn't like a caption. It is for visually impaired people. A "screen reader" reads the alt text to them, so it should be descriptive text.

If it's a verbal meme, you should enter the text of the meme. If it's a visual joke, you should explain the joke.

one of the worst feelings as an artist is when you have lots of ideas for what you want to draw but no time, then when you have the time you have no motivation, then when you have the motivation you have no ideas

Generic descriptions don't convey the information or context sighted users get from the image. Examples like "election results," "group of people," "screenshot from Google," or "city skyline" may be technically be true, but they don't provide information and context.

"oh, but I like the small text aesthetic" - NO! Absolutely not. We put usability first people. User experience is not using a magnifying glass to play games. Just say NO to TINY TEXT.

Please stop posting text heavy images without alt text. Alt text is used by blind users like me to tell what the hell you're posting about. If I don't knowwhat your image says I'm not reposting it.
And, remember, you might be disabled one day too. Happens to the best of us.
