Stand By Me was a film that made me realise I was different*, but not alone.

I'd come home from school for lunch and watch 30 mins every day* and when it was over, I'd rewind the VHS tape and start over.

I can still quote the whole film.

*This behaviour helped diagnose my autism.

every article about Elon that doesn’t start with the fact that he starved thousands of children to death is malpractice

this man should not be walking around free let alone as a respectable member of society
NEW: Without USAID funding to help buy food for refugees, the World Food Program rushed to prioritize families based on need, determining that only half the population would get food.

Refugees learned which half they were in from a number stamped on the back of their ration card.
After Trump Officials Cut Food Aid to Kenya, Children Starved to Death
“Brutal and traumatizing”: Interviews and a trove of internal documents show government officials and aid workers desperately tried to warn Trump advisers about impending disaster and death.

Every Christmas I say to myself "The lyrics to Feed the World can't be as bad as I remember. Surely."

Reader, they are far worse!

I mean, there is stiff competition for the worst lyric in the song, but this is a real clanger:

"where nothing ever grows".

There is no medical reason what so ever. It is an obstruction to timely healthcare, and forced people out of the legal time period for abortion, at home here in Ireland.

There is "no scientific support" for a mandatory waiting period for abortions in Ireland, according to the chief medical director of the Irish Family Planning Association (IFPA).

'No scientific support' for mandatory abortion waiting period, IFPA says
The Irish Family Planning Association found that between 2021 and 2024, 98% of IFPA clients went on to access abortion services after the waiting period.

Actually the problem is that the wealthy have convinced working people that we can solve the problems through charity, recycling, volunteering etc.

When taxing assets or earnings of anyone over €10 million* at 95% (including kings) would pretty much sort it.

*This amount is the real debate.

Didn't think much of the Barbie movie but hearing so many women guffaw at the "come here while I play guitar AT you" line, was cathartic! 🤣
we are at the beach and I am pleased (?) to report that no matter what is going on in the world, the tradition of shirtless dudes with acoustic guitars serenading their girlfriends is going strong

In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

Bird flu is being painted as a problem wild birds are inflicting on the poultry industry, but it's precisely the reverse.

Where do they think it developed in the first place, if not in the disease incubators that are mass battery farms?

It will also have ZERO impact on the rabid transphobia that’s perpetuated through the mainstream media & politics! 😖

OK, for possibly the first or second time in my life I replied negatively to someone else's post.

I don't usually do it for all of the obvious reasons.

This time a dose of a Yank made some inane comment about the Irish being too drunk to be able to differentiate between a dog and a lion.
