On August 12, 1971, 16-year-old me mailed the first story I ever wrote off on its first submission to my dream market, F&SF. My tale was quickly rejected. On July 17th, 2025, I finally sold a story to that magazine. Here's why I felt I had to withdraw that story. www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/20...

When editing feels like butchering lol. Everything I loved about that story is gone, sigh.
No doom, no gloom! I'll share a story with you instead, from the fantastic @bethgoder.bsky.social, no less. Sure to bring a smile, so fun, so well written 🥰

I just read "An Account of the Land of Witches" by Sofia Samatar. I was blown away by the beauty and depth of this story.

One last #ShortStory to write about before I call it a weekend: this one is not my usual cup of tea, but it's oddness and strangeness appealed to me. It's beautiful.

"Mycelium" is out at Podcastle.

The narration is wonderful and gives such a voice to the story. I'm so grateful to narrator Tatiana Grey and the whole @podcastle.org team for the amazing work they did on this story.

Author Beth Goder returns to FFO with “Emerald Gears,” a story in which the setting is also the main character. What is the antidote to a life of wandering and bargaining…? Could it be poetry?

I will no longer be submitting to F&SF, Analog, and Asimov's while they are published by MRM.

I've had stories in F&SF. A story and a novella in Analog.

The editors are great. The publisher is not.
I’ve made an update to this situation.

This is an interesting and important read if you want to know about contracts, negotiations and the ongoing situation regarding MRM.
