I follow American politics and comic book news. I vote to keep Republicans out of positions of power.

Bullies gain power when their misconduct succeeds in causing righteous people to yield in the face of wrongdoing. That’s why voting for Trump's continuing resolution - without any protection against his health care cuts or his growing illegality - is a mistake.

I voted NO.

Once again, Senate Democrats decide it’s better to cave for nothing than it is to fight for something. Primary as many as possible.

Lots more detail in here about this outrageous arrest. The guy has been in jail for weeks now for posting a quote by President Trump.
In the wake of Charlie Kirk's death, a TN sheriff had a 61-yr-old man arrested for posting a meme on Facebook, which the sheriff absurdly construed as a threat. It was pretty clearly bullshit but I dug into the case using FB & public records and now it looks even worse. My latest @theintercept.com:
The Absurd Prosecution of a Man Who Posted a Charlie Kirk Meme
Larry Bushart Jr. posted trolling memes on a Facebook thread about a vigil for Kirk. He’s been in a Tennessee jail ever since.

Angus: This is a guy who showed an AI video of himself dumping diarrhea on his own citizens. So the fact that he’s freaking out because we showed a video that just had Ronald Reagan speaking shows he’s not trustworthy.

I am an unabashed Ghostbusters apologist. Yes. The EPA is the bad guy. Sure, running an unregulated nuclear reactor is “bad.”
You know what’s also bad? TURNING IT OFF WHEN YIU DONT UNDERSTAND THE SCIENCE BEHIND IT!

I will be taking no further questions.
the boy is home from school today and he wanted to watch GHOSTBUSTERS and so we’re watching ghostbusters. a few thoughts. i have not watched this in a minute and have kind of forgotten how (charmingly) shaggy this movie this is. also, hello annie potts 👀 and a special hello to sigourney weaver 👀👀

few ideas have damaged the average psyche more than ‘the customer is always right.’ it should be a little bit humiliating, being a customer. you should walk into any service transaction knowing that the other person, and not you, is in control over whether you get your treats

For various reasons I think this one will be longer standing but this is also 100% true.
There were at least two ceasefires under Biden! In which more than five times as many living Israeli hostages were released in exchange for 240 Palestinians! Has everyone forgotten this?
Also, ceasefires have happened under prior Presidents! The day he gets Palestine their own country he can be told he's the most special boy deserving of a shiny prize.

Less than a year into the Trump admin and the National Governors Association, founded over 115 years ago, is on the brink of collapse.
Pritzker is also furious: “Should National Governors Association leadership choose to remain silent, Illinois will have no choice but to withdraw from the organization.”

For 26 but especially 2028 it's time for Democrats to make clear that the current Supreme Court will have to be reformed (expanded in number, reformed in structure) to allow popular govt to continue in the United States. Not so much a litmus test as precondition for any other promise to be credible.

I have two professor colleagues who have faced threats and harassment due to the organization Charlie Kirk built, and they were not alone. We can denounce and loathe political violence without hagiography for its victims. This is dangerous nonsense.
"But I envied what he built. A taste for disagreement is a virtue in a democracy. Liberalism could use more of his moxie and fearlessness."
That is Ezra Klein.

Like many Never Trumpers and other people with a public profile, I have been on the receiving end of death threats for years just for speaking my mind.
No one in America should risk being killed for exercising their right to speak, no matter how despicable you think their views might be.
