Yes, and what if your access to affordable healthcare was considered a right guaranteed to everyone by the government and not a bauble of certain types of employment or friggin club store membership? What then?
Rand Paul on his healthcare plan: "What if you could join Costco? Costco has 44m members and if one person negotiated for all 44 and they bought a group plan like Toyota or General Motors does, they would be the largest collective entity in the country. They would drive prices down by sheer might."

we all got cowed into avoiding "virtue signaling" as if the public affirmation of socially agreed upon ethical principles was somehow cringey instead of a significant part of what a "society" even is. now all there's left is vice signaling, and it's reshaping society.

The New Deal wasn’t built on a promise that there would be “no ceiling” for the richest Americans.

Quite the opposite, in fact. FDR knew its politics could only work if he singled out the rich as villains and knew that its policies could only work if the rich paid their fair share in taxes.

can we just take a minute to admire the Chuck Schumer number here, nobody has managed to tank their approval with their own party this hard since, I dunno, George W Bush
Zohran Mamdani has a higher favorability rating than Donald Trump, JD Vance or Chuck Schumer. The most popular political figures in America are Barack Obama and Bernie Sanders www.gelliottmorris.com/p/new-poll-d...

In fairness to Bari, a lot of cub reporters feel that way when they get to their first real news job
“I’ve been hearing that standards will be eliminated or severely cut back. Bari has told people that she wants to get rid of standards and is shocked that they have so much power. She also asked openly, ‘What’s the point of standards?’” one CBS source said.

This is really good to see: Miki Sherrill just put out a statement sharply criticizing the Senate Dems' pending cave in the government shutdown, ripping it as "malpractice" and a betrayal of the people who are "counting on us to fight for them." Sherrill knows what drove her victory. Wake up, Dems.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Treasury Dept employees got a second email last night telling them again not to take pics of the demolished East Wing of White House, a Treasury employee tells me.

Why? Because the images are devastating, of course.

Demolition of the East Wing is complete as of Thursday.

Good to see @raskin.house.gov jumping on the $230 million payout story re Trump. Would be good to see same from @robertgarcia.bsky.social and also from their Senate counterparts including introductions of message bills and looking for ways to push for votes.
Jamie Raskin tells me he'll formally demand any and all communications between the White House and DOJ about these $230 million claims. He's set to push it at the next Judiciary Committee meeting, challenging Republicans.

Read these Raskin quotes, they're striking:
