A band called 'Death' was punk before punk was punk

Formed in November 1971 by the 3 Hackney brothers, they were influential pioneers of the genre and, along with Pure Hell, the first all-black proto-punk/punk band.

I wrote this with the intent of it being a script for a video in response to the NYTimes interview with Ruben Gallego, but it applies equally here.
80 years ago, my great Uncle Frankie—an Irish Catholic boy from Staten Island with a Jewish wife back home—my great aunt Laurie, helped liberate Dachau. I can’t imagine the horror he must have felt that day. They’re both long passed, which is perhaps good, because I think the spectacle of Republicans throwing Nazi salutes on national television would have killed them. Frankie’s brother, my great Uncle Johnny—used a walker from a young age because as a child he contracted polio. He is also long passed, which is perhaps good, because putting a man who would deny vaccines to children in charge of this country’s health services would have broken his heart. As men of a certain generation, stoics who valued duty, honor, and family, they would have been disgusted by the fecklessness of Democratic politicians. The refusal to stand-up to this takeover of the American government by the very forces they fought in their youth would disgust them. I know it disgusts me. Yesterday, I read an interview with Senator Ruben Gallego, where he said that Democrats are focusing on “kitchen table issues” because that’s what voters are talking about. Senator, cybercriminals, oligarchs, and literal actual nazis are actively looting our country and destroying everything that actually made America great, all while putting in place policies which will kill our children and impoverish us. I want to know what you’re going to do to get voters talking about this.  I have eight nieces. They already have fewer rights than my sisters and mother enjoyed for most of their lives. If Democrats don’t learn how to shape the narrative, how to shape public opinion instead of going on about the price of eggs, then their remaining rights will be sliced away like so many pieces of salami. Are we going to hand them a world where they can’t vote? Can’t control their bank accounts? Senator, we elect our officials to lead, not just react. If you can’t or won’t, then resign and make room for someone who can.
