Look, if having an Olive Garden Chair of Roman History is what it takes to reverse the trend whereby every department outside of the Ivies is being ground to dust and the job prospects of anyone who didn't get their degree from Harvard are a wasteland, it's still better than the present situation.
I would proudly serve as the Bojangles Professor of Southern History if anyone’s offering

Dinner. Inexorably more than smells and I don’t think I expected laundry to come up much at all.

A few notes: NoVa is part of the DMV; DC is not a great city as it's a shit food town and most people there are not people you want to spend time with; I never imagined the indignity of non-Notre Dame fans rooting for Notre Dame over Georgia. I knew @stevengodfrey.bsky.social hated my team but damn

Great article- not a lot of new info but a good summary of some of what I see as a major unaddressed US defense challenge- ammo and missile production; defense last supper reference is chefs kiss. archive.ph/4ssJ6

Kind of weird and unfortunate to see this outcome, especially since I felt very positively about the changes to the Army’s command selection program.

Word of the day is ‘quafftide’ (16th century): the season for drinking. Also a pithy way of declaring that it’s time to relax.

Works for hydropots (water drinkers) just as well.

Next time you have an idea that seems too crazy, just remember that John Woo once walked into an office and said "I wanna make a movie where Nick Cage plays John Travolta playing Nick Cage, and John Travolta plays Nick Cage playing John Travolta," and someone wrote him a check for 80 million dollars
