Your daily reminder: don’t cross the picket line.
As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

mourn the collective loss of genius of folks who were actively discouraged or disadvantaged from a career in science because of the same person(s)

A post that is deleted, rewritten, and posted again is called a "palimpsest."

A post that is written in very tiny font and rolled up and placed inside a charm and worn about the neck is called a "phylactery."
Twitter refugees, note well: they're not called "tweets" here. Call them tweets and you're likely to be yelled at. Posts on Bluesky are called "missives." Reposts are called "rememberances" and replies are called "addendums." Replying to a post with a single emoji is called a "turd drop"

If you think that professors exist as repositories of knowledge that students ask for answers, you’re missing the entire point of a college education.

We’re here to teach students how to do research, how to analyze and argue, how to think for themselves — how to find the answers on their own.
Wow. Just wow.

"Students pay premium prices for information that AI now delivers instantly and for free. A business student can ask ChatGPT to explain supply chain optimization or generate market analysis in seconds. The traditional lecture-and-test model faces its Blockbuster moment."

In which I beg archaeologists to sign up for the fall semester of Skype a Scientist, because we're getting buried in requests for your area of expertise.

Sign up here:
docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
I run @skypeascientist.bsky.social which matches scientists w/classrooms, libraries, etc for Q&As.

We match First Lego League teams too. This tends to wipe out one category of scientist bc so many teams sign up for the same category (this year, archaeologists). We're almost out of archaeologists.

Think: campus buzzing with reunions, laughter over shared meals, and memories made where it all began. You don’t want to be the one scrolling from home while everyone else is here celebrating!
